  • Miranda Lambert (Photo: Tommaso Boddi)Country music will be in full force at this year’s Grammys—and, quite attractively represented, as well. Three of country’s biggest stars, Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood, and Miranda Lambert will be performing live on the 55th annual awards program February 10.

Lambert is the latest country gal to join the performance roster, announcing her slot on Tuesday during an appearance on The Talk. “The Grammys are so exclusive, and it’s all genres, it’s not just country, it’s everybody voting for you," she noted.

"It just means the world to have a nomination and get to perform,” added Lambert, who is up for Best Country Album. "It’s so nerve-wracking though—it’s like everybody out there. Everybody that’s anybody!”

  • Can’t wait for Tim McGraw’s debut album for Big Machine Records, Two Lanes of Freedom? Well, that won’t hit stores until February 5, but fans can take the edge off by checking out the new compilation project Tim McGraw & Friends—which is out this week and features a fun and varied collection of duets the superstar performs with some of his famous buddies.

The album includes collabs with everyone from Lionel Richie to actress Gwyneth Paltrow (if you saw the movie Country Strong, you know this girl can certainly sing). And, of course, no McGraw duets compilation would be complete without Tim’s favorite duet partner—his wife Faith Hill, who joins him for the hit “It’s Your Love.”

Here’s the complete tracklisting for the project:

    1. “Sail On” (with Lionel Richie)
    2. “Twisted” (with Colt Ford)
    3. “Owe Them More Than That” (with Kenny Rogers)
    4. “Me And Tennessee” (with Gwyneth Paltrow)
    5. “Middle Age Crazy” (with Jerry Lee Lewis & Jon Brion)
    6. “Can’t Hurt A Man” (with Randy Travis)
    7. “Find Out Who Your Friends Are” (with Tracy Lawrence)
    8. “Cold, Cold Heart” (with Tony Bennett)
    9. “Milk Cow Blues” (with Ray Benson)
    10. “Bring On The Rain” (with Jo Dee Messina)

  • Kramer and Gilbert on a date earlier this year (Facebook/Jana Kramer)It was Brantley Gilbert's 28th birthday on Sunday, but his girlfriend Jana Kramer was the one who got the coolest gift of the day--an engagement ring, that is!

People confirmed today that One Tree Hill actress and up-and-coming country star Kramer, 29, said yes to fellow country crooner Gilbert at Nashville's historic Ryman auditorium. Kramer admitted to People that she was "so surprised" by the proposal, and she appreciated that he had taken the time to ask her mother for permission beforehand.

What's even cooler than that?! The two are both up for New Vocalist of the Year (in their respective male/female categories) at the 2013 Academy of Country Music Awards. All we gotta say is: Watch out Blake and Miranda--you've got competition for "cute married country couple" coming your way!

  • Parton and Cyrus (Photo: Wireimage)One of the biggest reasons people love Dolly Parton, who turns 67 on Saturday, is because she’s got such a frank and open personality. However, there’s one element of the iconic entertainer’s life that’s managed to fly under the radar for many fans. She has a very close family role to another famous entertainer—namely, 20-year-old Miley Cyrus!

Parton was bestowed the role of Miley's “honorary” godmother due to her close friendship with Miley’s dad Billy Ray Cyrus, who opened shows for her back in 1992 (the two notably collaborated on Parton’s single “Romeo” in 1993).

She didn't allow an official godparent ceremony when Miley was born, due to her busy schedule, but wanted to be involved nevertheless. “[I told Billy Ray], I don’t know if I’ll be around to where I can actually do all the duties that a godmother does,” Parton explained. “So let me be her fairy godmother.”

Although this relationship has gone unnoticed by many fans, Parton has spoken often of her love and admiration for Cyrus—and repeatedly defended her even through the young singer’s many headlines for various questionable behaviors (including daring haircuts, marijuana use, and an early engagement).

  • If Taylor Swift’s method of dismissing an ex-boyfriend is, well, just too sweet for your taste—here’s a markedly harsher delivery of her smash hit kiss-off tune “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.”

No, we’re not talking about the Hanson version, for cripes’ sake! Django Unchained bad guy Samuel L. Jackson, who’s been known of late for his cinematically expletive takes on children’s books (Go The F--- To Sleep) and political ads (“Wake The F--- Up”), took it upon himself to give Swift’s song a bit of grit when he stopped by UK radio station Capital FM. Jackson apparently was inspired when a listener called in and asked him to give a message to her boyfriend (take that, dude).

Don’t worry, no F-bombs are dropped here. Jackson does, however, lean on the PG-13 side with the interpolation “You go talk to your dumbass friends”…and yes, something does get bleeped out.

Oh Taylor--cover your ears! Or, maybe not: The singer approved heartily of the cover, tweeting an enthusiastic "YES" in

  • Jana Kramer (Photo: Jon Kopaloff)Drama…passion…rage…violence…romance! Breakout country star Jana Kramer shows off her already well-established acting skills (she famously starred on popular TV series One Tree Hill prior to her music career) in her brand-new video for “Whiskey,” the second single off her self-titled debut.

Not to worry, however. Although Kramer steams up the lens with the decidedly bad boy actor portrayed in the video, the singer—who was just nominated in the New Female Artist category at the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards—is by no means repeating this behavior in real life. As fans know, she’s currently 100% happy with her boyfriend, fellow country up-and-comer and decidedly nice guy Brantley Gilbert.

Kramer has plenty of admirers besides her official beau. She was recently named one of 100 hottest women of 2013 by Men’s Health. If you happen to be near Abilene, Texas this weekend, you can catch her in person when she plays the Abilene Civic Center on Saturday.

  • Troubled country singer Mindy McCready’s late boyfriend, David Wilson, appears to have had considerable issues of his own prior to his death reported on Sunday. The 34-year-old music producer’s demise has been determined a suicide.

Wilson was found in his Arkansas home by local police with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to the hospital. He leaves behind a 9-month-old son, Zayne, whom he fathered with McCready.

Aside from his involvement with McCready’s various brushes with the law—the most prominent being the 2011 attempt to abduct and hide McCready’s older son Zander from his grandmother, who had legal custody—there is little to suggest that Wilson had a disturbed lifestyle. Rather, the pieces of his puzzle show a typical Nashville music-scene up-and-comer’s story.

Wilson signed on as an intern in 2007 at Music Row recording studio Vibe 56, where the owners of the studio described him as a lifelong musician with a

  • Mindy McCready (Photo: Angela Weiss)Mindy McCready has yet another tumultuous experience to add to her trouble-ridden life. The country singer is mourning on Monday following the death of her boyfriend, David Wilson, who passed away Sunday night at the age of 34.

No details have been released regarding Wilson’s death. The songwriter and producer was the father of McCready’s younger child, 9-month-old Zayne, as well as a father figure to her elder son, 7-year-old Zander, from a previous relationship.

In a statement, McCready referred to Wilson as her “soulmate” and praised his loving ways. (See a picture of the two together here.)

“He was a caregiver and guiding hand to our sons, Zander and Zayne," she noted. "He was a precious gift from God to all of us and, yesterday, he returned home and is now with his mother and father. David loved and he was loved. Those who knew and loved him will miss him; those who did not know David, missed the opportunity to know a truly loving and gifted man."

  • Randy Travis (Photo: Paul Archuleta)After a very tough year, things are looking up for Randy Travis—he’s allegedly sworn off drinking and is working on regaining his health. However, that doesn’t mean he can shut the door on his tumultuous 2012. Charges were formally filed against the 53-year-old singer Wednesday for driving while intoxicated back in August.

The infamous summer incident, in which Travis crashed his car on a Texas highway—and, prior to that, entered a convenience store stark naked—yielded official results that showed his blood alcohol level at the time was nearly twice the legal limit allowed by the state.

The DWI ranks as a Class A misdemeanor, which means Travis may face up to two years in jail and a $4,000 fine.
