Photo: Michael LoccisanoTo say 2013 has been a good year for new country duo Florida Georgia Line is kind of like saying Christmas is a busy holiday for Santa Claus. Just a little over a year since Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard's breakout hit "Cruise" was released, the pair have found themselves breaking musical records (the single is the best-selling song by a country duo in digital history), crossing over into multi-genre audiences...and, most recently, scooping up a remarkable four nominations at the upcoming 2013 American Music Awards.
FLAGA woke up to the great news Thursday that they were not only nominated in the Country Group/Duo and Country Album categories at the prestigious ceremony, they also are up for the all-genre key awards of New Artist and Single of the Year (for "Cruise"). It's rare for a new country act to scoop up so many nominations at this particular awards show; let alone an even split between country and all-genre categories.

According to Price's wife Janie, who updated his condition on his Facebook page, Price was diagnosed with sepsis, a serious and potentially fatal condition. "We rushed him to the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit and treatment was started," she explained. "Ray's blood pressure dropped too low and his heart rate too high. We were in watchful crisis all night long and throughout early morning hours before he stabilized."
Janie Price assured fans that her husband is in good medical hands and that she will remain at the hospital to support him. "I am at Ray's bedside and have not left him for a second," she noted. No, this is not a Halloween trick. It's a bona fide treat from the Robertson family: the "Duck Dynasty" crew is releasing a Christmas album October 29, and we've got your first peek at the album right here.
In addition to the requisite camouflage, swampland, decoys, and beards bushier than Santa's on the cover, "Duck the Halls: A Robertson Family Christmas" includes guest appearances from some of country music's biggest names.
Now that we've established the album looks, um, festive, just how big are those country guest stars we mentioned?
Well, try the King of Country himself, George Strait, who joins Phil Robertson for an ode to "Christmas Cookies." Strait is a busy man, currently in the midst of planning his sellout final tour, so this is indeed a treat for the Robertson's stockings.
The Academy of Country Music's currently reigning Entertainer of the Year, Luke Bryan, also makes an appearance, as do Alison Krauss and Josh Turner. Although the track listing features a number ofRead More »from Ho, Ho, Whoa! It’s a Very Camo Christmas on ‘Duck Dynasty’ Holiday Album Cover

Photo: Paul NatkinGiven the number of country luminaries singer-songwriter Amos Lee has befriended or worked with the years -- Willie Nelson, Zac Brown and Alison Krauss among them -- one thing about his latest album, Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song, comes as a surprise. It's the very first set he's recorded in Nashville.
"Yeah, this is the first time," Lee says with a smile. He explains that it was a key member of his recording team that ultimately brought him to Music City. "What drew us to Nashville first was Jay Joyce, the producer. We had spoken to a bunch of people about producing the record. I’d always had a bunch of friends in Nashville and a bunch of people that were helpful and fun to be around, and fun to play with," he notes. "So it seemed kinda logical, it was like a natural thing. "
"Jay’s pretty eclectic," he says regarding his choice of producer -- a modern-country powerhouse whose recent work includes Little Big Town's Tornado and Eric Church's Chief. "He works with a lot of differentRead More »from Amos Lee: Philly Native Takes the Road to Nashville for Latest Album

Photo: Michael TranTalk about a great catch! The Band Perry's frontwoman, Kimberly Perry, has just said "yes" to her boyfriend, Toronto Blue Jays starting catcher J.P. Arencibia, who popped the big question on Monday.
According to the Tennessean, Arencibia, 27, planned an elaborate and romantic proposal for the 30-year-old country star with the help of her family. Perry apparently had always dreamed of a marriage proposal under a giant oak tree in her family's Greeneville, Tenn. yard. On Monday evening, Perry -- thinking she was going to dinner with her family -- walked out and saw Arencibia under the tree.
Perry's mom, who also knew that her daughter had said she wanted to be wearing a certain dress at the time of her proposal, sent Perry back inside to change. While locating the dress, Perry discovered a letter from her family and a gift: A bracelet that her grandfather had given her grandmother back when they were first dating. Perry put on her dress and the bracelet, went back out, and watchedRead More »from What a ‘Catch!’ The Band Perry’s Kimberly Perry Engaged To MLB Catcher

Photo: Taylor HillKeith Urban isn't a Nashville superstar because he was unable to settle on a signature sound. Fans all over the globe have come to know the vibe the Australian-raised singer/songwriter brings to all of his highly successful records. However, for his eighth studio album, Fuse, they will no doubt notice that Urban sounds, well, a little different.
And for good reason: He's been working with different sounds, different instrumentation, different influences, and a bunch of different collaborators -- including a handful of producers; some best-known for working outside of the country genre.
"I didn't really start from wanting to make an album that sounded different. I just had a different sound in my head," Urban explains of the angle Fuse eventually took. "And I think I've had it in there for quite a few years. But it was going to take time, because I knew it was one of those things that were going to be about trial and error. Working with different people that I'd never worked withRead More »from Keith Urban Talks Juggling Jobs, Trying New Things, and Keeping His ‘Fuse’ Lit

Photo: Kevin WinterTV addicts were no doubt chattering about "Breaking Bad" and "The Voice" during Sunday's telecast of the 2013 annual Emmy Awards -- but music fans were talking more about something else: Namely, Carrie Underwood's version of the Beatles classic "Yesterday."
Underwood performed the Paul McCartney-penned hit as part of a special tribute celebrating the 50th anniversary of some of the most impacting television moments in history, including President John F. Kennedy's assassination and the debut of the Beatles on the "Ed Sullivan Show."
Social media response was mixed; some viewers felt Underwood did the classic proud, others bluntly stated that she butchered it. However, Underwood likely didn't care much about her naysayers -- after all, she had the blessing of the only person who really mattered.
That is, the person who actually wrote the song.

Not too long ago, a little unknown country trio called the Band Perry visited Yahoo HQ, where they played a lunchtime concert on our patio and we plied them with purple swag. Now, only three years later, they're one of the biggest acts in country music, touring with Rascal Flatts and playing the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas alongside huge acts like Avril Lavigne and Miley Cyrus.
Backstage at the iHeart fest on Saturday, September 20, Yahoo Music caught up with these old friends and marveled at just how far they've come. We also grilled Kimberly Perry for information on those rumors that she was in the running to be an "American Idol" judge a few months ago. Check out our fun chat with the Perrys in the video above!Read More »from The Band Perry Recall Their First Visit to Yahoo Music

If you're a fan of the outlaw biker TV drama "Sons Of Anarchy," you no doubt watched Tuesday night's episode. And, you probably were impressed by a certain song you heard during the broadcast -- as well as perhaps thought the vocalist sounded a bit familiar.
There's a good reason for that: Last night's song, "Set My Body Free," is delivered by bona fide outlaw the White Buffalo (a.k.a. songwriter Jake Smith), who's had more songs on the series than any other artist. In fact, "Set My Body Free" marks his seventh for "Sons Of Anarchy."
We at Yahoo Music think this rebellious folkie is a perfect match for one of the most bad-ass series currently on television, and if you agree, here's a special treat. We've got an exclusive premiere of the video for "Set My Body Free" right here for you to have a first look. Enjoy!
The White Buffalo released his album Shadows, Greys & Evil Ways on September 9. If you'd like to catch the White Buffalo live, he'll be playing a few dates this fall. Keep up withRead More »from Exclusive! See Video Premiere for The White Buffalo’s ‘Sons Of Anarchy’ Tune
