  • While many in the music world were busy with Grammy parties, speculation, and schmoozing on Sunday afternon--country star Craig Morgan was out being a bona fide, lifesaving hero.

Morgan had just returned to his hometown of Dickson in Tennessee after finishing up a string of tour dates, and was looking forward to taking a little break. However, his anticipated R&R had to take a backseat for a bit. After noticing a neighborhood house on fire, he sprang into action, entered the smoke-filled structure, and rescued the people inside--which happened to be two small children.

Morgan, who has worked as a sheriff and emergency medical technician in his past, says he didn't hesitate to jump in and help. "I did what anyone else in the same position would have done," he explained. "I just happened to be the one that was there."

When firefighters arrived on the scene, Morgan helped them put out the flames with their equipment. Due to his immediate aid, the house sustained only minor damage, and

  • Watch your back, Clive Davis. (And your "Sideways," too.) The new pre-Grammy party host with the most may be country star Dierks Bentley, who put on his own star-studded show Saturday night, about a mile away but a rootsy world removed from Clive's glamorous gala.

Bentley took over the Troubadour with an on-stage guest list that included fellow country luminaries Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Blake Shelton, Zac Brown, David Nail, Del McCoury, Jon Randall, Jessi Alexander, and Sam Bush. Also joining in the festivities were actor Garrett Hedlund (Country Strong, Tron Legacy) and a couple of key representatives from the rock world: Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, and Paramore's lovely raven-tressed frontwoman. Who needs Whitney when you've got Hayley?

Hayley Williams sang the Paramore ballad "You're My Exception," accompanied by Bentley's acoustic guitar. And in performing just one song, she was an exception to the evening's general rule, which, as stated by Bentley, was "one for the

  • Okay, and now for the Valentine's Day story of them all this year.

By now, every Taylor Swift fan knows that the superstar singer is fond of writing about boys she has feelings for. And, that she likes to put little "hidden messages" in her songs in order for folks to decode exactly whom she is talking about.

And, by now, fans all know that her tune "Enchanted," off October's release Speak Now, is purportedly about Adam Young, the face behind pop project Owl City. Her wildly romantic lyrics discuss a first encounter that leaves her "wonderstruck"--"I'll spend forever wondering if you knew I was enchanted to meet you," she laments.

Well, Taylor, you don't have to wonder anymore. Adam Young has finally responded. In a public post on the Owl City site, Young has penned a special message to Swift that's guaranteed to make any girl swoon:

    "Dearest Taylor,

I'll be the first to admit I'm a rather shy boy and since music is the most eloquent form of communication I can muster, I decided to

  • Can y'all handle one more Valentine's Day-related topic this week? I promise, I'll make this one worth your while. This one goes out to all the anti-hearts-'n-flowers types out there.

Avid followers of country's most ribald Tweeter, Blake Shelton, know from his social media conversations that he's got a bit of an off-color sense of humor. Most of us who like him, like that too. So, here's some good news: You can send your friends and family a Blake-approved Valentine, complete with some of his most famous lines.

All you have to do is visit Blake's site and access his Blakemail feature (which is up front and center this weekend). There you can choose one of three greetings. Here's the tamest of the three:

This is a family blog so I'll let you see the other two for yourself, but rest assured they're a bit more PG-13. My personal fave involves my personal fave song title of all time, "Kiss My Country A**." (My mom will really love that one, I'm sure!)

To deliver the Blakemail, you can

  • The news on Thursday that Carrie Underwood's husband, Ottawa Senators center Mike Fisher, had been traded to the Nashville Predators naturally caused some waves in the hockey star's hometown. In fact, an Ottawa radio station even went so far as to pledge the following: It would no longer play Underwood's music. Ever again!

The station, 1053 KISS FM, stated the following: Fisher's trade was "a betrayal to our community" and that the beloved player "was lured away from Ottawa by a country-music superstar."

Ooooh, them's fightin' words, right? Well, as you might imagine, this didn't go down too well with Underwood's fans.

But--what the fans apparently didn't seem to get? It was just a joke, folks. The station plays pop hits, not country. You know, like Rihanna and Bruno Mars and stuff. In other words, they wouldn't be playing Underwood anyway. Get it? Har har!

However, the station apparently received considerable flak for its little gag; enough to put up a splash page on site Friday

  • Valentine's Day is just around the corner--and even if your honey flakes out (hey, we suggested checking out the Faith Hill Collection flower bouquets earlier this week!), one of your fave bands wants to make sure you get a sweet surprise that morning.

All you have to do is visit the ZBB official site, sign up to the special list, and you'll get the video as a Valentine's present on Monday (it'll be ready at 11 a.m. ET).

As a little bonus, you can see a short preview of "Colder Weather" immediately after registering for the video list. I checked it out, and sure enough...as one might expect, it involves a lot of snow. But that's all I will reveal. Go see for yourselves! Here's a pic from the video shoot, as well.

Valentine's Day Eve should prove to be quite sweet for the ZBB boys, as well as the

  • Things just got much simpler regarding the schedules of one of entertaiment's busiest couples, Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher. It was announced on Thursday that Underwood's hockey-star husband--who's played his entire career for the Ottawa Senators--has been traded to Nashville's team, the Predators.

This means, of course, that Underwood--one of Music City's biggest names--and Fisher will have a lot more time to spend together. The convenience of having both of their career bases in the same city? Gotta be priceless, as anyone who's dealt with a long-distance relationship can understand.

Fisher will be exchanged for Nashville's first-round pick in the 2011 entry draft and a conditional pick in the 2012 draft. The star center's trade has been anticipated by the sports world for some time now as a result of the Senators' rebuilding efforts; however, it wasn't certain until now where Fisher would land.

Senators general manager Bryan Murray told the Ottawa Citizen that there was

  • When it comes to Waylon Jennings, we're all just good-hearted women in love with a good-timin' man—aren't we? But there is one woman who claims that title ahead of the rest of us, which would be Jessi Colter, Waylon's widow. She and their son, Shooter Jennings, a rising star in his own right, sat down in Nashville this month to talk about a years-in-the-making tribute to the late country superstar.

The just-released album is called The Music Inside, Vol. 1: A Collaboration Dedicated to Waylon Jennings. If that's a cumbersome title, the "volume 1" part is necessitated by the fact that there are two more volumes already scheduled for release in 2011. This first set includes covers of familiar and obscure Jennings tracks by Alabama, Jamey Johnson, Trace Adkins, John Hiatt, Randy Houser, James Otto, Sunny Sweeney, and newcomer Chanel Campbell, along with a historic Kris Kristofferson/Patty Griffin duet... and, of course, appearances by Jessi and Shooter. Hank Williams Jr. and Dierks

  • Garth Brooks, who turned 49 on Monday, got a really big belated birthday gift on Wednesday--when he discovered that his charitable Nashville concert series raised a whopping $5 million.

The series, which was held in December and consisted of nine sold-out shows at Nashville's Bridgestone Arena, was earmarked to fund disaster relief for the city. Tennessee experienced record flooding in May of 2010, which resulted in billions of dollars worth of damage, as well the deaths of more than 20 people and displacement of hundreds more.

The total sum raised from the concerts was announced by the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, which says it already has most of the funds (about $4.35 million) in hand.

It's not too surprising that Brooks was able to raise such an impressive sum. The series netted a record 140,000 tickets sold, which is the highest amount ever in the state of Tennessee (and that's a state known for its music lovers, folks!). If you're curious, Michael Jackson held the

  • Jana Kramer Goes Country

Jana Kramer played a sorority girl on "Entourage" and a fallen starlet turned model in "One Tree Hill." Now the 27-year-old will play a country singer in real life: The Detroit native debuted her single "I Won't Give Up" on the CW show.

The song spurred searches on the Web. Lookups hit a high note for "jana kramer," soaring over 1,400% on Yahoo! in just one day. Fans also sought "jana kramer i wont give up lyrics" and "jana kramer songs."

The Los Angles Times blog gushed about the song, "We loved it." And heck, what a way to start a music career: As the story points out, the show has a successful history of launching musical talents, including Wakey!Wakey! and Kate Voegele.

Until now, the TV star has done more acting than singing: Kramer's other roles have included spots on "Friday Night Lights" and "90210." But with a deal signed and sealed with Warner Music Nashville, that may all be about to change.

Once "One Tree Hill" wraps up in March, the Nashville-based Kramer says she

And its decision to bring aboard a Chinese partner for "Iron Man 3" and focus the Disney marketing machine on the booming foreign market looks pretty good right now, too. ...
