Has Blake Shelton stopped to take a breath yet in 2011? So far, he's presented at the Grammy Awards, cohosted the Academy of Country Music Awards, landed a slot on a major-network reality show that debuts on Tuesday...oh, and he's got a big wedding coming up in a few weeks. (That would be his own, to fellow country star Miranda Lambert, on May 14.)
The new record, Shelton's ninth, is likely being rushed to the streets to capitalize on the remarkable success of his latest single "Honey Bee"--a catchy little tune that broke sales records and is the fastest-rising single of his career. The song, which Shelton debuted at the 2011 ACM Awards, racked up more than 138,000 digital sales its first week--a feat unmatched by any other solo male country artist. (Now that's what I call a BUZZ. Ha, ha...sorry, that was bad.)
Shelton is excited to be releasing a new collection this year. He says he can't wait for everyone to hear it, explaining, "I have found some of the best songs of my career."
Meanwhile, Shelton will make his debut as a star coach on the NBC reality show The Voice Tuesday night at 9 ET/PT. He'll join fellow superstars Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, and Adam Levine in a search for America's next great singing star.
Can't wait for tomorrow to see Blake in action? Here's an extended preview of the show courtesy of NBC. (My fave part? Blake belting out a performance of the Gnarls Barkley hit "Crazy" with his fellow coaches. Cray-ZEE indeed!)
