Back last fall, the news that Brooks & Dunn were planning on calling it quits was quite startling--and more than a little upsetting for their legions of fans. As a smidgen of consolation, the duo is making sure that their 2010 farewell tour is one for the record books: Ain't no party like a Last Rodeo party!
Need proof? Well, if the presale rush for tickets didn't convince you, perhaps Kenny Chesney, Sugarland, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire, Brad Paisley, Carrie Underwood, Keith Urban, George Strait, Taylor Swift, Miranda Lambert, Jason Aldean, and Lady Antebellum can. That happens to be the almost-beyond-belief lineup confirmed for a special tribute show organized in honor of the megaselling pair.
Put on by the Academy of County Music, the show's official title is "ACM Presents: Brooks & Dunn--The Last Rodeo" and will tape on Monday, April 19th at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. Ticket sales from the show will benefit ACM Lifting Lives, the charitable arm of the Academy of Country Music, which works to improve lives through the power of music.
Of course, it's not really that hard to get all these folks together for the shindig--the show takes place the day after the ACM Awards, so everyone who's anyone will be in town anyway. (Probably hungover. Just kidding--but it is Vegas, right?) And you'd have to be a serious party pooper to turn down a slot on this tribute. However, one does have to admit it's a breathtaking list of country talent to amass in one place.
Plus, there is one guest who you probably weren't expecting to be in Vegas that week: the Oscar-winning R&B sensation Jennifer Hudson, who is happy to "play something country" in order to pay her respects to the mighty B&D. (Okay--that was a bad one, but I couldn't resist.)
If you can't make it out to Vegas for the show (tickets are still available), be sure to tune in to CBS on May 23--they'll be airing it at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
As always, be sure to:
