It's a very merry Christmas for American Idol Season 8 finalist Danny Gokey, who has just let the world know that he's engaged to his girlfriend, Leyicet Peralta!
This will mark the second marriage for the 31-year-old Gokey, who lost his first wife, Sophia, three years ago when she unexpectedly passed away during routine heart surgery. Gokey, who established the charitable foundation Sophia's Heart in her honor, chose to announce his engagement to Peralta via the charity's website.

According to the site, Gokey "is thrilled to have found Leyicet, who also shares his passion and desire to help children and families in need"--which is the mission of his charity.
The couple are requesting that all wedding gifts be made in the form of a donation to Sophia's Heart. "We are thankful for so many of the blessings God has given us," they stated. "It is our desire to see homeless children and families be kept together and lifted back on their feet through the help of Sophia's Heart. We love and appreciate you all."
The website additionally explains that Gokey and Peralta revealed their engagement "recently" (presumably, earlier) to friends and family. The couple are reportedly planning to wed late next month.
