He's known for his songs about drinking, smoking, and...well, other distinctly adult activities. However, Eric Church may find himself cleaning up his act a bit in the near future. Why? Because he's now a proud father of a baby boy!
Church and his wife Katherine welcomed their first child, Boone McCoy Church, on Monday morning in Nashville. The new little "chief" weighed in at 7 pounds 11 ounces.
"Everybody always tells you what an awesome and unique experience being a parent is," Church noted. "Words can never do the feeling justice. I am very thankful and blessed to have a healthy and happy baby boy and baby mama."
Church, whose third album Chief debuted on top of the all-genre Billboard 200 chart this summer, says he plans to cut back a bit on touring for the rest of the year in order to bond with the new arrival. Don't expect him to quit working completely, though--he's hoping to gain some musical inspiration during the downtime.
"It will be interesting to see how this new chapter in our life manifests itself musically," he said. "I've always made music that was representative of real life. Life doesn't get more real than having a newborn at home."
Ain't that the truth, brother. Just warning ya: It gets increasingly real in the weeks to follow!
Church and his wife were married in 2008. You can check on his tour schedule here to see when he will be playing. Also, keep an eye out next month--he's nominated for New Artist at the CMA Awards November 9.
Congrats to the Church family! Be sure to leave your well-wishes here.
As always, be sure to:
