First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage…Now It’s Twin Baby Carriages For Chely Wright!

Chely Wright, who made headlines in 2010 as the first country star to publicly come out as a lesbian, has happy news for the new year: She’s expecting identical twins with her wife, Lauren Blitzer-Wright.

The couple announced their pregnancy Wednesday on Howard Bragman's YouTube show Gwissues. Wright, 42, is carrying the babies. No word on whether the twins are boys or girls, but they will arrive this summer, according to Wright.

The little arrivals are technically due in July; however, Wright noted that identical twins often need to be delivered a month early, so their nursery will need to be ready in June.

“We feel like God blessed us with twins,“ Wright told Bragman, adding with a laugh, “We tried really hard to not have twins!”

“When gay couples have babies, it’s logistically a little different than when straight people have babies,” Wright said with a smile. “It’s been really cool and really bonding for us.”

Wright married Blitzer-Wright, 31, in August of 2011. The pair live in New York. Prior to her wedding, the singer claimed her career had suffered as a result of her coming out, but that it was definitely worth it. “"Nothing in my life has been more magical than the moment I decided to come out," she says.
