Hear It First! Texas Country-Rockers Whiskey Myers Offer Up 'Shelter From the Rain'

Country fans who appreciate a splash of good ol' southern rock in the mix have likely already been clued into Texas country/roots-rock quintet Whiskey Myers, whose soulful/rebellious sound has earned them tour slots with the likes of Eric Church and the Eli Young Band.

The guys made a respectable impact on the country charts with their last album, 2011's Firewater (while darn near burning up their local scene at the time!) and are now poised to release a new set, Early Morning Shakes, on Feb. 4. Their latest material shows off a range of influences ranging from country to R&B to serious rock — and we at Our Country are excited to give you a first listen to one of their brand-new tunes, "Shelter From the Rain."

As frontman Cody Cannon explains to us, "This is the first real love song I have ever written. A lot of the stuff I write is pretty straightforward. There aren’t any hidden codes, it’s just about your woman sheltering you from the rain or hard times."

Like what you hear? Whiskey Myers is currently on tour playing a variety of dates through April. Check here to see if they're coming to your neck of the woods!
