Everyone knows that Keith Urban is from Australia. And, everyone knows of his most famous Australian alliance--that would be his marriage to fellow country(wo)man Nicole Kidman, of course.
This new project is actually quite a kick, given that one of Urban's main roles these days is proud pop to his young daughter Sunday Rose. He's cutting a song with famed children's group the Wiggles.
If you're a parent of a small child, I don't need to tell you who the Wiggles are. I'm very sure you are quite well acquainted with them (okay, pardon my sarcasm--but if, like me, you've got their songs burned permanently in your brain due to constant toddler demand...ya know what I'm talking about here, right?).
If you aren't--well, in a nutshell, they're four guys from Down Under who have managed to pretty much grab the preschool music market by the ears over the past couple of decades. They have their own TV show, tour constantly, release gold and platinum records, and were named Australia's highest earners in the entertainment field by Business Review Weekly three years in a row.
So, Urban isn't just doing any little kids' tune, here. This is one serious mix of talent! As he himself told the Los Angeles Daily News, "Having a 2-year-old, I'm not going to turn down the Wiggles."
The song chosen for the collab is an old tune by Roger Miller, "England Swings" (which sounds kind of racy, but rest assured, it's G-rated), and it will likely land on Urban's next album, which he's reportedly recording here and there as his schedule allows.
Now, the natural question here is--will Sunday Rose make a cameo on this tune? Don't be surprised if she does; according to her dad, she's already developing a real love of music. Urban tells the Daily News that Sunday likes classics such as "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star" and dances when Urban beats on a drum. "She hits those intervals just right every time. I think that's a good sign that she's got a good ear."
Sound cute? Well, what really sounds cute to me is the fact I'll have a new Wiggles tune to play for my own little girl...something to finally replace "Fruit Salad." Wahoo!
Have you got kids at home who'd like to hear Urban's latest collab? Be sure to let me know!
As always, be sure to:
