Celebrities were quick to respond via Twitter regarding reports that country singer Mindy McCready died Sunday, the result of an apparent suicide.
Carrie Underwood expressed her condolences. “I grew up listening to Mindy McCready…so sad for her family tonight,” she wrote at 6:36 p.m. “Many prayers are going out to them…”

Big & Rich member John Rich also shared his grief. “Very sad to hear about Mindy McCready,” he said in a post on his Twitter account. “When I was in Lonestar she was our label mate and we were friends. A tragic end to a talented life.”
Singer Chely Wright conveyed concern for McCready’s children. “Really really sad to learn the news about Mindy McCready,” she wrote. “I will pray for her children and I hope that people are gentle with her memory.”
Republic Nashville artist Greg Bates also said he would pray for the late singer’s family. “So sad to hear the news about Minedy McCready,” he wrote on his Twitter page. “Keeping her family in my prayers.”
NBC correspondent Andrea Canning, the last reporter to interview McCready, was among the first to report the news. “Just got a call from Mindy McCready’s best friend that she shot and killed herself this evening,” she wrote at 4:47 p.m. “My heart breaks for her two boys. RIP.”

Access Hollywood host Shaun Robinson recalled a past interview with McCready. “Interviewed Mindy McCready years ago and realized back then that she could never see how special and talented she was. Heartbreaking,” she wrote.
McCready’s Official Fan Page on Facebook had more than 700 comments following the reports of her passing.
“Hoping you find the peace and solace you were always searching for and that your boys always know what a talented, loving mother they had,” Abby Mack said in a post.
Facebook user Chasiti Decker said she could not believe the news. “Wow still in shock. I always thought she’d get past it all,” she wrote.
