Mindy McCready Reportedly Committed To Rehab; Children Removed From Home

Mindy McCready (Photo: Angela Weiss)Troubled country singer Mindy McCready has been committed to rehab for alcohol and mental health issues in the wake of her boyfriend, David Wilson’s, death last month. Addtionally, the 37-year-old’s two young sons have been removed from her Arkansas home.

According to E!, a judge ordered McCready to treatment following an emergency hearing on Wednesday. Sources say she may be there for up to 21 days. Reportedly, McCready’s family called for the hearing in concern for her health. The singer has not been coping well since Wilson’s passing—the cause of which is still under investigation, although originally reported as a suicide by gunshot.

McCready admitted during the hearing that she has been using alcohol to excess as she mourned the loss of her boyfriend. She denies having anything to do with his death, telling NBC's Dateline last month that “He was my life. We were each other's life…I have never gone through anything this painful. He didn't just touch my heart, he touched my soul. He was my soulmate."

Wilson was the father of McCready’s younger son Zayne, who is 10 months old. Elder son Zander, from a previous relationship, is 6 years old. Both boys are currently in the custody of the Department of Human Services in Arkansas.

This is just the latest in a long string of incidents McCready has weathered over her rocky history, and is not her first time in treatment for substance abuse. McCready’s past overall has included numerous arrests, a suicide attempt, and an appearance on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew in 2010.

Wilson was involved in several controversial periods in McCready's recent past; including a 2011 custody issue over Zander that required the intervention of authorities, as well as a media mixup that reported she was having twins (Zayne was born as a single birth in 2012).
