Missing Person Report Filed for McCready and Son

Mindy McCready, APCAPE CORAL, Florida (AP) — Florida authorities say country singer Mindy McCready is missing with her 5-year-old son, and a judge has given her until Thursday to return the boy.

The Department of Children and Families says a missing persons report was filed Tuesday night with Cape Coral police after McCready took her son Zander from her father's home. McCready doesn't have custody; her mother does. The singer was allowed to visit Zander at her father's home.

DCF spokesman Terry Field told The Associated Press the agency requested an emergency pickup order, and a judge said McCready must return the boy by Thursday afternoon.

Since topping the country charts in the mid-1990s with her music, the 36-year-old singer's troubled life has been filled with domestic abuse, drug and drunk driving arrests and a suicide attempt.

Jay T, you do not know what happened. None of us do. People need to learn not to jump to conclusions.

What a shame. This poor woman is a mess. I hope her and her son are found safe and she checks herself into some sort of rehab or psychiatry clinic...whichever one she needs. For someone who is only 36, she sure has gone through a lot of hardships. Just goes to show you money doesn't buy happiness.

I always hoped she would to, I really liked her singing and it is such a waste that she has been down these horrible roads and continues to just get worse, it is truly sad, she could have had such a wonderful career with her music. Hopefully one day she will turn it around.

I used to not understand depression, I do now. Although I don't medicate for it. Without sounding cold and callous, maybe Mindy needs a dose of reality. Perhaps she should live in a low income area, without any money, designer hand bags and designer shoes. Perhaps if she lived like so many of us do, she would appreciate what she has.

This is so sad and scary. Her music was really good. I just pray that her son is okay and that he is returned safely to his grandparents.

And she was allowed, apparently, unsupervised visitations? What are the chances that she took her own life and did not go alone? People! Our judicial system is broken. Any judge who permitted unsupervised visits for this sick lady is just as sick....if not even more!

Awww that's sad to see someone who had such talent and could go far, to end up where she is now.
I hope she does the right thing and gets some help. I know life has a way of taking you down some wrong paths sometimes, but if YOU don't change it, no one else can do it for you. My prayers are with her and the poor scared litle boy Zander.

Isn't it amazing the leeway women are given? If the father had done the same thing he would be brought up on charges. He would not be given until thursday to return with the child. She should be thrown in prison for kidnapping. Plain and simple. And for all those who assume the mother is always right F U.
