Photo: Michael LoccisanoRandy Travis, who underwent surgery for a stroke on Wednesday as a result of complications from congestive heart failure, is still under the best care and doing as well as can be expected as of Friday evening.
The Baylor Health media room, representing the facility where Travis is being treated, as well as Travis's personal publicist reported that the singer is still in a serious state but, to state the obvious, is most importantly still with us.
"Mr. Randy Travis has been under heavy sedation since he came out of surgery late Wednesday night, July 10th, and is resting comfortably. He is still in critical condition. His family continues to ask for prayers and support," read a statement from the medical team.
Travis entered the Texas hospital on Sunday for heart issues and has been in critical condition all week. He received an assistive heart device and was ultimately transferred to a nearby facility for further, more intensive care. Upon having a stroke Wednesday, he was operated on to relieve pressure on his brain. Nashville as well as the rest of the nation remain on prayer vigil for the singer.
