She's broken numerous records and won just about every musical award known to mankind...but this is actually a new one for Taylor Swift. The superstar singer/songwriter has just been named Woman Of The Year by music industry publication Billboard.
Of course, Swift just wouldn't be Swift if she didn't set some milestone on top of winning this award--in this case, she's the youngest artist ever to receive the honor.
"At the young age of 21, Taylor has already made a major impact on music and has been an incredible role model for aspiring singers/songwriters and young women everywhere," noted Billboard's Editorial Director Bill Werde.
Billboard's annual Women In Music event is now in its sixth year, and seeks to recognize the most powerful and talented women in the music business. Last year's winner was the Black Eyed Peas' Fergie. Swift will formally receive the honor on December 2, when Billboard holds the event in New York City.
It was also announced today that Swift is up for the artist of the year honor for the upcoming American Music Awards next month. She'll be competing against Adele, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, and Lil Wayne for the title. Swift is also nominated in the favorite female country artist and favorite country album categories.
Also in November, she'll be at the Country Music Association Awards, where she's up for six awards. Hey, all this is nothin'--just another regular old year for Taylor Swift, right?!
Congrats on your latest honor, Taylor! Be sure to leave your well-wishes here.
As always, be sure to:
