Taylor Swift’s New Single Leaks Early; Rockets To No. 1 Download

It's only been a couple of weeks since Taylor Swift made the big announcement she'd be delivering fresh music to her fans very, very shortly. Namely, a new album arriving in October--and a new single on the radio by mid-August.

But, even that short amount of time was too long to wait for Swift's eager fanbase. On August 4, an unauthorized low-quality version of the promised single, "Mine," was leaked online, leading Swift's label to rush an official delivery of the song to radio and iTunes nearly two weeks early.

The response was immediate: "Mine" has already shot up to the No. 1 position on the iTunes top songs chart. "[I] looked at iTunes and got tears in my eyes," Swift tweeted on August 5. Meanwhile, industry publication Billboard is predicting a "big debut" on its all-genre Hot 100 chart next week.

Last month, Swift discussed the song in a webchat with fans, saying it is about finding someone to make her believe in love."I'm never going to go past hoping that love will work out. Even if it seems really hard," she explained.

The chorus of the song embodies Swift's ideal romance: "Do you remember we were sittin' there, by the water?/You put your arm around me for the first time/You made a rebel of a careless man's careful daughter/You are the best thing that's ever been mine."

You can hear "Mine" at Swift's official website, which also includes a direct link to purchase on iTunes. Her upcoming full-length album, Speak Now, will hit stores October 25.

Swift is set to perform "Mine" September 1 on the ABC special CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock.

So, now that you've heard Taylor's new single--I'm curious to hear how you all like it. Be sure to give me your thoughts!
