Tim McGraw Announces Title, Release Date For New Album; Performing New Single At CMA Awards

It's been a long and bumpy road along the way, but Tim McGraw finally has announced a release date for his first album on new label Big Machine Records. Appropriately enough, it's titled Two Lanes Of Freedom, and it'll be out on February 5.

The record is a welcome new start for McGraw, who has been embroiled in a long and still-churning legal battle with former label Curb Records. He received permission to record for another label back in November 2011, and signed formally with Big Machine in May 2012.

McGraw explains that the set is reflective of his own life at the moment: "It's about reflecting on old times with a sense of nostalgia, but it's also about creating new memories and living in the moment and looking towards the future. I am doing that in my own life and career now, and I can't wait for my fans to hear the single and album. It's an unbelievably exciting time for me!"

The singer also noted that he's feeling especially energetic about his career these days, and that he thinks it is audible in his new work. "I always go into the studio to make the best record I can possibly make, and this one is no different. But 'Freedom' is a powerful word," he said. "To come into a situation where there's some weight lifted, some refreshment going on, you can feel that in the music. I think you can feel the horses gallop on this record, and where I might go and what I might do when my engines are revving."

The first single from Two Lanes Of Freedom, "Truck Yeah," marked McGraw's highest solo chart debut to date. He'll be performing the second single for the project, "One Of Those Nights," live for the first time on Thursday's Country Music Association Awards, and the song will be released to radio that night as well.

The Country Music Association Awards will be broadcast live from Nashville November 1 on ABC, at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
