Well, it seems ABC's loss is Paramount Studios' gain.
See, after Adam Lambert's appearance on Ryan Seacrest's Rockin' New Year's Eve special was cancelled by ABC in the aftermath (pun intended) of his "controversial" American Music Awards performance on the same network, the in-demand Glamerican Idol suddenly and surprisingly found himself without plans for December 31st. But I knew he'd find another way to ring in 2010. I mean, who wouldn't want to party with the Glambert on NYE? At the very least, should no other invitations materialize, he was always welcome to come drink some absinthe at my house...
But it turns out Adam got a much more high-profile offer: headlining the big Gridlock NYE event on Hollywood's Paramount lot, the same red-carpet, 5,000-capacity shindig that Katy Perry and the Killers have famously headlined in past years.
Adam and his band will be there for revelers' entertainment, ringing in the New Year on the "Times Square West" main stage with a fireworks-laden, 40-minute set...and the soiree will be hosted by Pamela Anderson AND will feature performances by Kevin Rudolf AND Leave It To Lamas wannabe diva Dakota Lamas.
Whoa. This actually sounds like much more fun than some squeaky-clean, Dick Clark-affiliated TV show.
I am so planning my glamtastic Gridlock outfit now. A shopping trip to the Skingraft showroom may be in order. Yes, fans, this is indeed awesome news. And by the way...is it wrong for me to kinda/sorta hope that Adam will kiss one of his band members at the midnight hour?
