Daniel Joseph BakerDaniel Joseph Baker--or "Daniel Josephine Baker," or "this generation's Liberace," as judge Sharon Osbourne affectionately dubbed him during his tragically all-too-brief run on "America's Got Talent"--was really the only reason to ever watch "AGT" other than Prince Poppycock. Oh, how I grieved this season on that horrible night when this peacocking piano showman, unabashed Gaga obsessive, and potential Trevor Project posterboy was voted off the show (ironically the same night that Poppycock returned for a guest performance). The Fierceness was gone from "AGT" forever.
DJB brings The Fierceness to Yahoo! But The Fierceness is not really gone, of course. See, once I learned that this real-life Kurt Hummel and self-described "fierce cheetah" had actually relocated to Los Angeles to pursue his post-"AGT" showbiz dreams, I swiftly invited his fabulous self over to Yahoo! for a little musical showcase. And into my office DJB sashayed, trailing the scent of Beyonce's Heat and carrying his awesomely old-school Yamaha keyboard, seeming even fiercer and fun-er than he ever was on NBC, if that's even possible.
Much to my delight, the wonderboy who made his mark on television covering Lady Gaga and Adele played an original song when he stopped by, and honestly, it was good. Okay, it was more than good--it was FIERCE. This kid's got talent, and I hope L.A. is kinder to him than Piers Morgan was.
See DJB premiere his original love ballad "With Me" live at Yahoo!, and also check out my highly enjoyable interview with him about his "AGT" experience, his devoted Danfans, life after "AGT," and what three other initials, "FFU," mean in DJB's magical world.
