Thirty former Idols (29 runners-up, plus Season 8 winner Kris Allen), ranging from Season 1's Kristin Holt Adams to this season's Casey Abrams and Pia Toscano, gathered to take a "Class of 2002-2011" photo, and here's the magic that ensued:
The idea behind this historical shoot was that even if most of these contestants didn't make it all the way on "Idol," they've since used the show as a springboard for their showbiz careers. (For instance: Season 9's Luke Edgemon, who participated in the shoot, didn't even get past Hollywood Week, but he's now on "Glee.") Even champion Kris has extended his career beyond "Idol," writing the new single for "Glee" star Matthew Morrison. So basically, everyone came to this class reunion with something to brag about.
Reality Rocks got to visit this amazing shoot and spend some time crashing the Idols' party, and the random configurations of Idols we saw was enough to make any diehard "A.I." fan's head explode. For instance, in the clip below, you can witness the following:
--Season 2's Kimberly Caldwell; Season 4's Anthony Federov; Season 6's Blake Lewis, Antonella Barba, and Jared Cotter; Season 8's Allison Iraheta, Jackie Tohn, and Casey Carlson; and Season 9's Didi Benami, all just mingling and goofing off
--Season 7's David Archuleta and Michael Johns and Season 9's Tim Urban and Didi Benami reuniting, while Season 3's Matt Rogers weirds everyone out by asking Archie for an autograph and accidentally calling him "Adam"
--Season 5's Elliott Yamin, Kris Allen, and Season 9's Todrick Hall hanging out, while Todrick, who just relelased a video called "I Wanna Be On Glee," subtly works Kris's Matthew Morrison connections
--"Idol" vocal coach Debra Byrd doing some inspirational speaking with early "Idol" divas Diana Degarmo (Season 3) and Kimberley Locke (Season 2)
And in clip number two, shot while the festivities were winding down, you'll see:
--Season 8's Kris Allen and Allison Iraheta reuniting, as Allison shows off her sophisticated new makeover
--Jackie Tohn and Blake Lewis gossiping with Season 4's Mikalah Gordon, Season 5's Ace Young, and Season 7's David Hernandez
--A mutual appreciation society going on between Todrick Hall and Season 4 top three contestant Vonzell Solomon
--Season 7 dreamgirl Syesha Mercado looking superfly, as Todrick and Blake look on
It would be awesome if these "Idol" reunions happened every year...but we have a feeling an event like this was a once-in-a-lifetime sort of thing.
