American Idol, The Day After: Hollywood Week, Night 3 Dish

Last night, "American Idol" Season 12's girls had their shot at Hollywood Week, but despite Ryan Seacrest's repeated, sometimes borderline-desperate declarations that this episode would feature some of THE best female talent in all 12 "Idol" seasons, my "The Day After" co-host Matt Whitfield and I were left feeling underwhelmed. Yes, some of the girls stood out, but most of them just fell apart. And hardly any of them could even remember all their lyrics, despite covering themselves in Sharpie-scrawled cribnotes for the group round! Simon Cowell would've never tolerated this sort of amateurishness (lyric-flubbing was always his biggest pet peeve on "Idol"), yet the new judges frequently turned a blind eye (or a deaf ear) to such embarrassing behavior.

In general, it was a disappointing episode, but thankfully, a few ladies, like returning contestants Candice Glover and Janelle Arthur, rose above the rest and proved that this may finally be their time to shine. Watch me and Matt discuss the good, the bad, the forgetful, and the just plain forgettable, and feel feel to chime in with your own thoughts, too.

Happy Valentine's Day!
