  • This week the competition on "So You Think You Can Dance" got even more exciting, as the top 10 danced closer to the Season 8 finish line with the help of some newly recruited allstars. Sadly for Clarice and Mitchell, they went home Thursday night--a unanimous decision by the three judges--but we will soon see them on the tour, so the "SYTYCD" journey is far from over for those two.

Mary Murphy was a no-show backstage this week, but she'll be back with her colorful outfits and even more colorful opinions next Thursday. In the meantime, watch Mary's fellow judges' post-results interviews below, in which Nigel Lythgoe discusses gender quotas; future guest judges Lady Gaga, Rob Marshall, and Christina Applegate; and theories as to why excellent dancers like Jordan and Ricky keep landing in the bottom.

And make sure to check out guest judge Neil Patrick Harris's interview too, for solid proof that some of the celebrity judges on "SYTYCD" this season--contrary to popular belief--take their

  • This week on "So You Think You Can Dance," Clarice and Mitchell went home, and while the occasion was still bittersweet, this Thursday's results show was a little less depressing than previous ones. Backstage, as the pair spoke to reporters immediately after the taping, there were a lot more smiles than tears.

Nigel Lythoge had some very kind and encouraging on-air words for the pair ("We don't have anything to say about you being bad tonight....we think you're all fantastic!"), and Mitchell also knew he was fortunate to get this far, since a shoulder injury almost cost him the competition in week one; he was grateful that the judges had given him another chance, despite the fact that'd he'd been unable to compete that week.

And most importantly, Clarice and Mitchell left the show with a fabulous consolation prize: a spot on the "SYTYCD" tour. The tour seemed foremost on Clarice and Mitchell's minds, in fact, as they optimistically spoke to the press Thursday night.

  • Wednesday night on "So You Think You Can Dance," Nigel Lythgoe implored, "Wake up dance fans, and keep Jordan in the competition!" Additionally, I blogged about the greatness of Ricky. But did America listen to either me or Nigel? Apparently not, because both of those incredible dancers were up for elimination this Thursday. Thankfully, the judges still had a say in who stayed and who went, so Nigel and his cronies unsurprisingly opted to keep Jordan and Ricky in the competition, and cut Clarice and Mitchell instead.

But at this rate, I'm beginning to worry about just how long the judges will keep saving Jordan and Ricky--especially Ricky, my favorite guy this season--before they finally give up on them. Because for one cockamamie reason or another, voters just aren't picking up the phone for those two.

To put things in perspective, however, Nigel did pep-talk all of the bottom four contestants on this week's results show, reminding them that two of the amazing allstars who guested on

  • The biggest reality TV battle of 2011 won't be the one between Scotty McCreery and Lauren Alaina on "American Idol," or between the final two singers on this fall's "The X Factor USA." No, the real reality showdown will likely be between "Idol" creator Simon Fuller and ex-"Idol" judge/"X Factor" producer Simon Cowell, who are about to become embroiled in the TV trial of the century. Cowell's "X Factor" new promo, which gleefully blasts "Idol," is just a hint of what's to come.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Fuller is suing Fox, the network that airs both "Idol" and "The X Factor," and production company Fremantle North America, claiming he should be paid an exorbitant fee for "The X Factor USA." According to a suit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court this week, Fuller negotiated an executive producer fee and credit on "The X Factor" as part of a settlement of a copyright-infringement lawsuit years ago, back when the original "X Factor" series first aired in Britain. Fuller's

  • "So You Think You Can Dance" seems like a shoo-in to win the Outstanding Choreography trophy this September, since the show has scored a whopping five of the six nominations in that category and has won that award five times before. But don't rule out "Dancing With The Stars" pro and first-time Emmy nominee Mark Ballas, who is also up for three routines he staged for "DWTS" (three of that series' coolest, edgiest numbers, I might add).

I ran into Mark backstage at L.A.'s Nokia Theater the Idols Live Tour last week (gee, I wonder what he was doing there? heh), where I got a chance to interview him about his Emmy nod announced the day before, as well as ask him about any chances that he might ever appear on "SYTYCD."

"It's been a dream come true," Mark gushed. "It's kind of like a Grammy for a choreographer. And to be nominated amongst a good friend of mine, Travis Wall, who's a genius, and Mia Michaels and Sonya Tayeh and Nappytabs, some of the best...it's really an honor."

    Mark's

  • As Glamberts eagerly await Adam Lambert's sure-to-be-awesome sophomore album, a "new" Adam track, "Live The Life," has seemingly materialized out of nowhere. Maybe it was beamed in directly from Planet Fierce to tide Adamaniacs over until Mr. Lambert returns with some official post-For Your Entertainment material for our entertainment.

Actually, the real story is "Live The Life" is not a new song after all. The clubby, dancey track dates back to Adam's pre-"American Idol" days, and was co-penned by Adam and J. Scott G., a San Diego-based electronic music producer. The day after Adam placed second on the Season 8 "Idol" finale (May 21, 2009), J. posted a blog on his MySpace page titled "J. Scott G. Wins The Music Lottery (J. Scott G. collaborates with Adam Lambert)," about what he believed was the song's imminent release.

"Yes it's true," J. wrote. "Right before Adam Lambert auditioned for American Idol, he and I collaborated on a *MASSIVE* song called 'Live The Life' that has yet to

  • Last Friday, July 15, the Season 10 "American Idol" cast headed back to Los Angeles, the city where all their through-to-Hollywood dreams came true, to play one of their biggest dates on the Idols Live Tour: at the Nokia Theater, where the finale took place not so long ago. There, before the big show, I had the chance to catch up with them to discuss their on-the-road adventures.

Part 1 of Reality Rocks' interview series features the contestants six through 11, from Casey Abrams through Thia Megia. Highlights of our chats: Casey played with a doll, offered some Deep Thoughts, and confessed that he sometimes hides out incognito in the Idols Live Tour audience; Paul McDonald revealed that he nearly burned off his beard in a day-off BBQ incident; Pia Toscano discussed her upcoming music video; and Naima Adedapo talked about getting Jennifer Lopez's blessing to cover "On The Floor" on the tour.

Check out part 2 of my backstage interviews below! And squint hard to see "Dancing With The

By Todd Cunningham LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - "Iron Man 3" was soaring past $1 billion at the worldwide box office Thursday, in a display of world domination that would make one of Marvel's super villains proud. The box-office bounty - roughly $700 million from abroad and $300 million domestically - is a major triumph for Disney, which bet big on comic book superheroes when it bought Marvel Studios for $4 billion in 2009. And its decision to bring aboard a Chinese partner for "Iron Man 3" and focus the Disney marketing machine on the booming foreign market looks pretty good right now, too. ...
