  • Last night, "The Voice" finally went live, with Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton's teams competing for America's votes for the first time. (Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green's teams will sing live next week.) This is cause for celebration, so my Yahoo! Entertainment colleague Matt Whitfield and I have resurrected our "Day After" series, which we originally shot in reaction to "American Idol's" shows, to react to last night's "Voice" fun.

And oh, there is so much to discuss! Is there room on this show for TWO bald-headed powerhouse females? Do contestants who've had previous record deals have an unfair advantage? Is Dia Frampton "The Voice's" new breakout star? Is Xenia doomed? And on the subject of the judges, was that Queen medley a total mess or what, should Xtina stop wearing leather diapers, and should Adam Levine and Blake's wife Miranda Lambert just chill out?

  • If there was one thing the recent finale of "America's Best Dance Crew" taught us, it's that Season 6 paled in comparison to past seasons. Watching former winning crews Poreotics, We Are Heroes, Quest Crew, Super Cr3w, and Jabbawockeez all stuninngly perform on last Sunday's finale only made this season's final two teams, I.Am.Me and especially the overrated/underaged Iconic Boyz, look like a bunch of chumps. (Although I still think Phillip Chbeeb is awesome, don't get me wrong.)

Which brings me to the just-premiered video for Jabbawockeez' new single, "Devastating Stereo," the track to which they performed at last Sunday's "ABDC6" finale. The video is an expectedly awesome showcase for the masked men's unique talents, proving once again that they really ARE America's best dance crew. Besides Fanny Pak, that is.

Jabbawockeez have completely infilitrated the mainstream at this point, with an album out, a successful show in Las Vegas...and, of course, a recent cameo on the new season of

  • Finally, after pretaped weeks of spinning chairs and boxing-ring duet duels, "The Voice" went live this week, with eight in-studio competitive performances from two teams (Team Xtina and Team Blake). This was the first time America had a say in the show's outcome, with the voters at home getting to save one singer from each team, and the coaches saving another. Now was the time to avenge the wrongful eliminations of Tyler Robinson, Rebecca Loebe, and Casey Desmond, America!

So Tuesday night, the singers mentored by Christina Aguilera and Blake Shelton competed live...but not before all four coaches tried to set the properly triumphant tone by performing an opening Queen medley, the centerpiece of which was, of course, "We Are The Champions." I have to say, my expectations for this performance were pretty high, considering how wowed I'd been earlier in the season with the coaches' group number of Gnarls Barkley's "Crazy." But this Queen performance just fell flat, was not the

(Click here to relive that epicness.) But now I'm back in the Northern Hemisphere and tackling my maxed-out DVR.

And what better homecoming could I receive than three fantastic hours of "So You Think You Can Dance" and dozens of fantastic dancers from Salt Lake City, New York, and Los Angeles all waiting for me? There were also plenty of, um, interesting moments, including a wackjob named Brittany Morgan Starr who claimed to be the long-lost daughter of the "real Ringo Starr" (and twin of Lady Gaga), a guy who claimed to be Santa Claus, a girl who suffered amnesia three weeks before her audition but still remembered her dance steps, and an overzealous Tahitian dancer who (inadvertently?) exposed himself. Good times.

Here are my favorite successful auditions

(Click here to relive that epicness.) But now I'm back in the Northern Hemisphere and ready to tackle my DVR.

While I was away, the final installment of "The Voice's" Battle Rounds--the stage of the game in which the show's four celebrity coaches (Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, and Christina Aguilera) pit their own teammates against each other in duet duels--took place. Here's what went down in the sing-off ring last week:

    JEFF JENKINS vs. CASEY DESMOND
Okay, this was the least climactic showdown on "The Voice" since Adam Levine placed Javier Colon against some chick whose name I can't recall right now. (Oh, wait, it was Angela Wolff. I rest my case.) Come on, the country boy with the heart of gold and a recently departed mom, whom all four judges

  • As I reported earlier this week, last year's "American "Idol" winner Lee DeWyze was not invited to perform at this week's "Idol" finale (it is usually tradition for the reigning champ to do so). His only inclusion in the finale at all was a couple shots of him in the audience, being ignored by Ryan Seacrest. Awkward! This of course incited a riot of angry tweets by Lee fans (and Lee's brother, who later took his tweets down and apologized), mostly directed at "Idol" producer Nigel Lythgoe.

There could have been many reasons for this Lee snub--perhaps Nigel just felt no allegiance to the winner of a season that he didn't produce (Nigel returned to the show this year after a two-season hiatus) and who was championed by his nemesis Simon Cowell, so he just wanted to distance himself from Season 9. Or maybe the "Idol" powers-that-be felt it would take away from the finale's overall sense of triumph to draw attention to an "Idol" winner whose sales have been disappointing compared to past

  • "America's Got Talent" is about to kick off another season, but last year's winner, Mississippi singer-songwriter Michael Grimm, is back on the scene as he finally releases his self-titled post-"AGT" album, which boasts a surprisingly stellar array of collaborators--especially for someone who came out of a show whose other contestants include accordion-playing dogs, chainsaw-jugglers, and the like.

The Epic Records-released album, which just debuted at #13, features production from Don Was and musical contributions from Heart's Ann Wilson, the Faces' Ian McLagan, and renowned session players Davey Faragher (Elvis Costello, Cracker), Greg Leisz (Bill Frisell, Ray LaMontagne, Beck, Wilco, Lucinda Williams, Joni Mitchell, k.d. lang, Sheryl Crow, Robert Plant), Kenny Aronoff (Bob Seger, Elton John, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Smashing Pumpkins), and Waddy Wachtel, (Keith Richards, Stevie Nicks, James Taylor). Not too shabby.

I recently got to interview Michael via satellite about his star-studded

  • "No other show has talent like this," hostess Cat Deeley declared at the start of this week's Season 8 "So You Think You Can Dance" premiere. And this Cat had a very truthful tongue. The talent level on "SYTYCD" has always been obscenely high, with each season raising the barre--while the "American Idol" judges this year have been criticized for being too nice and telling everyone they're "amazing" and "beautiful," really, on "SYTYCD" many of the contestants ARE amazing and beautiful. I seriously think the only reason why this show isn't quite as big a ratings juggernaut as, say, "Idol" or "America's Got Talent" is because it has fewer horrible contestants to ridicule, so it doesn't quite appeal to viewers' mean streaks.

Judging from the crop of Atlanta and San Francisco auditioners seen on this week's "SYTYCD" premiere, Season 8 will not disappoint. Yes, there were a few "funny" bad auditions, like a booty-poppin' ex-stripper who dubbed herself "Black Barbie"; a goofy Caucasian B-boy

  • Scotty McCreery was just declared the 10th "American Idol" winner, but as the past two seasons' Crystal Bowersox and Adam Lambert can tell you, winning isn't everything. Both of those runners-up have sold more albums than the respective contestants who beat them, and I have a feeling this season's runner-up, Lauren Alaina, will continue that pattern when she and Scotty release their albums later this year.

Why, do you ask? Read on.

    1) Lauren May Get More Airplay - "Idol" fans loved Scotty, yes, but country radio staffers don't seem to be quite as enthusiastic. Stark Radio recently reported that country radio broadcasters are already resistant to Scotty; WFRE's Jess Wright even said, "If Scotty McCreery gets signed, I'm gonna need to change my phone number," and KUZZ's Toni-Marie quipped, "I'm calling in sick the day they bring Scotty by on the radio tour." These same programmers also seemed to think Lauren has a good shot, with the right material and proper handling.

  • The Season 10 "American Idol" finale aired last night, and while we should be gabbing about how Scotty McCreery won, that's actually not the big news today. This is partially because Scotty's victory was possibly the least shocking in "Idol" history--come on, we all knew he'd win--but also because the show was packed with so many exciting performances by the OTHER top 13 contestants and tons of A-list pop stars, Ryan Seacrest's announcement at the end almost seemed anti-climactic.

In our final "Idol" gabfest of the season, my Yahoo! colleague Matt Whitfield and I talk about our favorite moments from last night, and we also touch upon the mysterious disappearance of last season's winner Lee DeWyze from Nigel Lythgoe's rewritten "Idol" history book. We hope you enjoy our final "Day After" episode, and thanks for watching and gossiping with us all season long. We love you this big!
