  • Top 3 "American Idol" finalist Scotty McCreery first made an impression auditioning with, and then repeatedly singing, "Your Man" by Josh Turner, aka the "baby lock them doors and turn them lights down low" song. As Scotty's "Idol" star has soared, his audition song choice has turned out to be the best publicity Josh could ask for. So when Scotty returned to his hometown of Garner, North Carolina, this weekend for his big homecoming event (an "Idol" top 3 tradition), Josh repaid the favor by bumrushing the stage during Scotty's welcome-home concert, giving Scotty the surprise of his life.

Scotty had started to sing "Your Man"--his first time performing it with a band--when Josh appeared unannounced onstage. When Scotty turned around he sort of experienced a delayed reaction, at first reaching out to grasp Josh's shoulder, before suddenly realizing just who he was sharing the stage with. Observe his hilarious reaction below:

Josh's band then came out to complete the song as a

  • "American Idol" is in its final stretch, and while much of America is excited about May 24th's final showdown--and shocked over James Durbin's exit in fourth place--I think there are a few other also-rans who really got robbed this season, contestants I would have liked to see get a shot at the finale. Season 10 was packed with talent, so much so that many awesome singers who would've sailed through in any other season (um, at least last season) were sadly left on the sidelines this year. So let's hope some of these people audition for "American Idol" Season 11--or maybe "The X Factor" or "The Voice"--in the future.

    PIA TOSCANO

After her show-stopping, jaw-dropping performance of "All By Myself," this little lady with the big pipes was hyped to possibly win this whole competition--or at least make the top five. When she instead went home in NINTH place, it was one of the biggest elimination shockers in "Idol" history, right up there with Chris Daughtry and Tamyra Gray. Pia will be just

  • Last night on "American Idol," awesome frontrunning rocker James Durbin was sent home in fourth place, and it was the most shocking elimination since Pia Toscano was voted off in the top 9 week. And in today's installment of "The Day After," my Yahoo! Entertainment colleague Matt Whitfield and I have some conspiracy theories as to why this happened, and why Season 10 is shaping up to be "Idol's" most unpredictable season ever. (Spoiler: #itsrandyjacksonsfault)

Check out our heated convo below--and be sure to wish Matt a happy birthday today, because having one of our favorite contestants go home this early is a pretty crappy birthday present.

  • Well, after 70 million votes--the highest top 4 vote tally ever, in all 10 seasons--"American Idol" viewers let themselves be heard, loud and clear, judges' comments be damned. Haley Reinhart never really had the support of the "Idol" machine--I was actually beginning to think this show was sponsored by Greyhound, she got thrown under the bus so much--but her underdog status helped her gain votes from sympathetic, outraged fans who understandably believed she was getting a raw deal on this show. Despite the judges and producers seemingly doing everything in their power to get Haley out of the way of the other female left in the competition, Lauren Alaina (aka the Chosen One), Haley made it to the top three anyway. And she deserved this victory. She fought for it.

    This is the good news.

The bad news? James Durbin, a frontrunner since the beginning and probably the most exciting and edgy contestant remaining this season, was shockingly voted off in fourth place. Apparently, despite his

  • Last night, the top 4 "American Idol" contestants were coached by Lady Gaga, and it was, unsurprisingly, one of the most exciting episodes of the season. And in today's installment of "The Day After," my Yahoo! Entertainment colleague (and fellow little monster) Matt Whitfield and I have strong opinions on all of the performances.

Did Gaga give the contestants good advice, or did she just scare the Judas out of 'em? Did the conservative contestants' spooked reactions to Gaga prove just how out of step this old-fashioned show is with today's pop market? Did Scotty McCreery alienate viewers with his blatant pandering to his Christian fanbase, or was covering a 9/11 anthem a genius move? Just what DO the judges, especially the under-bus-throwing Randy Jackson, have against poor Haley Reinhart? And most importantly, who is going home tonight?

Today, we debate all this and more. Check out our convo below--and be sure to join in by posting your comments, too!

  • Long before "American Idol"--before "Star Search," even--there was the Eurovision Song Contest. The United Nations of all talent competitions, held every year since 1956, Eurovision features aspiring talents from across Europe competing over five days, with each country submitting an original song to be performed on live TV. It's actually one of the most-watched non-sports broadcasts in the entire world. And it's definitely the cheesiest. The performers at Eurovision make those silly step-touch, lip-synched group numbers on "Idol" look like a Bob Dylan concert.

Seemingly untouched by time or taste, with the contestants wearing spandex 'n' sequins outfits and executing variety-show dance moves that wouldn't have been out of place during ABBA's historical 1974 Eurovision number, and singing oompa-oompa songs that wouldn't sound out of place at a Russian bar mitzvah or a Gogol Bordello concert, Eurovision is truly brain-boggling television at its finest.

    And this year's Eurovision, which
