  • Rumors continue to swirl regarding who will join Simon Cowell on the "X Factor USA" judging panel this fall--Cheryl Cole? Nicole Scherzinger? Snoop Dogg? Paula Abdul?--but we do know that L.A. Reid will be on the show for sure. And considering the enthusiasm he exhibited when I recently interviewed him about his plum new TV gig, it's certain that he's the right man for the job.

Of course, with a résumé that includes co-founding of LaFace Records and working with the A-lister likes of  Mariah Carey, Pink, Usher, Rihanna, Justin Bieber, Kanye West, Avril Lavigne, TLC, and Outkast, L.A. has all the qualifications for the job. But what struck me most about our interview was his unabashed admiration for Simon Cowell. While it's likely that a man with L.A.'s strong personality and music-biz experience will butt heads with Simon from time to time once "The X Factor" hits the airwaves in September, I'm suspecting there's going to be a total bromance going on between those two, too.

  • Adam Lambert has long been an avowed and outspoken fan of Miss Britney Spears. And so, if the old adage is true that imitation is the best form of flattery, then Adam ought to be extremely flattered by Britney's new "Till The World Ends" video, which premiered today. While I'm NOT saying that Britney deliberately ripped him or anyone else off (I honestly don't give her that much credit), there is some undeniable similarity between her new party-at-Ground-Zero clip and three of Glambert's past vids.

Basically, take the post-apocalyptic cityscape of Adam's 2012 movie video "Time For Miracles"...

...then add the Bacchanalian blowout of his Burning-Man-relocates-from-the-desert-to-the-forest video, "If I Had You"...

...and set it in the neon-lit, thunderdomed, underground discotheque of "For Your Entertainment"...

...and voila, you get "Till The World Ends":

So, all I want to know is...when will the inevitable--and inevitably awesome--"Britbert" mashup show up on YouTube?

  • Following the unfortunate flop of her CBS reality show "Live To Dance" and still-unsubstantiated rumors that she will be a judge on "The X Factor USA," Paula Abdul is surprisingly returning to pop music as a guest vocalist on "So Free," the debut single by a Finnish electronic duo called Shine 2009.

Shine 2009 - So Free (feat. Paula Abdul) by CASCINE

"Paula Abdul, who appears as a friend of Cascine and a fan of Shine 2009, is perfectly placed in the sonic era where she made her biggest mark on pop music," boasts a press release issued by Cascine Records about the breezy, '90s-esque club song. "Brushing the track with vocals that evoke a warm smile and a knowing nod of the head, 'So Free' is as instantaneous as it is undeniable."

Well, "brushing" is right. Paula's voice is barely perceptible in the Shine 2009 mix, which is a little disappointing; and if she hadn't received billing on this track, I would have never guessed it was her. (She's also not in the video below, nor is MC Skat

  • When it comes to TV talent competitions, the judges are the real stars. Whether it's Steven Tyler and J.Lo on "Idol"; Simon Cowell's search for "X Factor USA" cohorts: "The Voice's" new allstar panel of Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton; or the return of Mary Murphy to "So You Think You Can Dance," it's always the judges who make the headlines and are remembered long after the shows' respective winners collect their prize money and move on.

But not all judges are created equal. Some judges, when judged by the viewing public and opinionated bloggers, receive low marks themselves. There are various reasons for this. Some judges just don't have enough personality to fill up the small screen. Others are too wishy-washy, too afraid of hurting some poor kid's feelings or looking like the bad guy. And others are just plain wrong.

So, which judges face the harshest judgment? I give you, in ascending order of awfulness, the worst judges in reality TV:

    9) Nicole
