Last week's "X Factor" shocking results show was all about drama, drama, DRA-MA, as the judges bitterly fought over the eliminations and poor Drew Ryniewicz got caught in the crossfire. This Wednesday, there was more drama, of course: "If they want a war, they're going to get a war," Simon Cowell snarled at the episode's start, and host Steve Jones even urged viewers to chime in on Twitter with the hashtag #glovesareoff. But other than Simon's threat to poke pins in a Nicole Scherzinger voodoo doll (hey, are those available for sale on the "X Factor" website?), most of this week's drama centered on a last-minute song switchup that quite possibly altered the entire course of this season. (Spoiler alert: Conspiracy theories ahead!)

[photo: Michael Rozman/Warner Bros.]Perhaps no one on "The X Factor" other than Astro has garnered as much scorn as host Steve Jones, whose abrupt manner has irked judges, contestants, and viewers alike. Steve's crude and clumsy attempts to keep the show moving along at a brisk pace and not preempt "Bones" have caused L.A. Reid to flash him multiple death stares, Simon Cowell to tell him to "shut it for a second," and even sweetie Paula Abdul to snarl, "It's not going to be that quick!" when Steve tried to rush her hemming and hawing during one results-night deliberation. Steve's callous handling of some of the young contestants on several results nights--cutting off Paula when she was trying to console castoff teen duo the Brewer Boys, blatantly ignoring the sobbing of eliminated underage group InTENsity, rudely telling Lakoda Rayne "the dream is over" (a comment that spurred one of the Lakodas to actually yank the mic out of his hand and tell him off)--has not won him many fans either. As a result, some viewers are already rallying to have Steve sacked, and rumors have run rampant that he will be replaced in Season 2 or shipped back to England (where his seemingly cold demeanor may play better) to host the U.K. version of the show.Kris Allen Movingly Performs “Imagine” at Trevor Project Gala

Blige, Darren Criss, LeAnn Rimes, and Season 10 "Idol" finalist Stefano Langone. Kris, already well-kn0wn for his lovely "Hey Jude" finale number on the 2009 Idols Live Tour and "Let It Be" performance during Season 9's Idol Gives Back week, covered another Beatles-affiliated classic, John Lennon's "Imagine," for the star-studded crowd, and his choir-backed performance perfectly captured the spirit of the altruistic evening.
X Factor, The Day After: Top 7 Results Dish
By Lyndsey Parker | Reality Rocks – Fri, Dec 2, 2011 4:44 PM ESTLast night on the most heartbreaking and eyebrow-raising "X Factor" elimination episode yet, two of the show's youngest and most interesting contestants, Astro and Drew Ryniewicz, were sent home. Astro took the news surprisingly well (certainly better than he took the news when he was in the bottom two a couple weeks ago), and since he was the lowest vote-getter among the top seven and therefore automatically eliminated, no one could get too up in arms about this result. It was apparently what America wanted.
But Drew was another story.

Astro goes homeI suppose it was only a matter of time before Astro, aka the Astronomical Kid, got axed from "The X Factor," since he'd become the show's resident villain ever since his onstage tantrum on that notorious night when he was in the bottom two. Arrogance and swaggadocio may play well in the hip-hop game (see: West, Kanye), but not in a game like "The X Factor," in which America consistently roots for contestants who are sweet, humble, and eternally grateful (see: Not Astro). But I really didn't think Astro would go this week.X Factor, The Day After: Top 7 Show Dish
By Lyndsey Parker | Reality Rocks – Thu, Dec 1, 2011 5:09 PM ESTThis week, "The X Factor" aired its top seven Michael Jackson Night, and for the most part it wasn't much of a thriller. Even Michael's own kids, sitting uncomfortably in the audience, looked like they were ready to shamon the heck out of there. To answer the musical Michael question "who's bad?"...well, that answer came in multiple parts. Quite a few contestants--even Rachel Crow, who'd once been compared by the judges to a young Michael--didn't quite deliver performances that'll go down in "X Factor" HIStory.
So who will beat it tonight, in yet another double elimination? Really, it could be anyone--anyone other than Melanie Amaro, that is, who was genuinely thrilling last night. Watch my Yahoo! colleague and fellow reality fan Matt Whitfield and I discuss last night's episode, and offer our predictions for tonight's big results, in the latest (quite controversial!) installment of "The Day After" above. And feel free to your own comments, complaints, and concerns on the message

‘The X Factor’ Michael Jackson Night: This Is It?
By Lyndsey Parker | Reality Rocks – Thu, Dec 1, 2011 6:02 AM EST"The biggest star of all time, a double elimination--no pressure!" intoned Simon Cowell at the start of this Wednesday's "X Factor" show, on which the top seven performed the songs of Michael Jackson in some sort of presumed unofficial celebration of this week's Dr. Conrad Murray sentencing. Simon was, of course, referring to another sentencing of sorts: the fact that two more contestants will be sentenced to elimination and total banishment from "The X Factor" this Thursday, on a results show that will surely bring new meaning to MJ songs like "She's Out Of My Life," "Beat It," and "They Don't Care About Us."

Javier Colon's albumEarlier this year, I assumed contestants on "The Voice" had a distinct sales advantage over the hopefuls on rival show "American Idol." I assumed that by counting iTunes downloads as actual votes--something "Idol" and similar shows do not do--"The Voice" would be better at predicting which contestants would fare well in the actual pop marketplace. What a fantastic business plan, I thought! So I assumed that Season 1 "Voice" winner Javier Colon, who landed several hits in the iTunes top five during his memorable run on the series, would be a surefire seller once his album came out.I assumed wrong.

Me on the 'X Factor' preshowLast Tuesday, I had the pleasure of visiting "The X Factor" set, a paradise of cushy viewing sofas, Jim Cantiello bow-ties, all the free Pepsi a girl could drink, festively autumnal holiday decorations, and random top nine contestants milling about. It was Thanksgiving week, and I sure was thankful. And I was especially grateful for the invitation to guest as a "pundit," as we say in this biz, on the "X Factor's" live preshow, along with in-house stylist June Ambrose, blogger Jeffery Self, and the judges.

- 'Iron Man 3' races past $1 billion dollar mark on monster foreign take
By Todd Cunningham LOS ANGELES (TheWrap.com) - "Iron Man 3" was soaring past $1 billion at the worldwide box office Thursday, in a display of world domination that would make one of Marvel's super villains proud. The box-office bounty - roughly $700 million from abroad and $300 million domestically - is a major triumph for Disney, which bet big on comic book superheroes when it bought Marvel Studios for $4 billion in 2009. And its decision to bring aboard a Chinese partner for "Iron Man 3" and focus the Disney marketing machine on the booming foreign market looks pretty good right now, too. ...
