Dexter on 'The X Factor'The "X Factor" live voting rounds haven't even begun yet, and already the show has come under fire twice this week. First contestant Stacy Francis was accused of lying about her professional experience, and now top 17 contestant Dexter Haygood, who was cut by his mentor Nicole Scherzinger last Tuesday, is claiming that his elimination was rigged.

Contestants sing "Ghostbusters"Perhaps not since "The X Factor U.K.'s" Jedward performed Ray Parker Jr.'s "Ghostbusters" had I enjoyed a Halloween-themed reality show performance as much as I enjoyed the opening medley on "The Sing-Off" this past Monday. As the remaining costumed groups sang a creepy-crawly medley of such spooky songs as Danny Elfman's "This Is Halloween," Warren Zevon's "Werewolves Of London," and "Ghostbusters," on a stage decorated with cobwebs and tombstones and shrouded in dry-ice fog, I thought to myself....wow, why can't all "Sing-Off" episodes be this cool? Why All the Hate For Stacy Francis?

Stacy FrancisOver the course of the past week, "X Factor" hopeful Stacy Francis, the 42-year-old single mom with a dream and a pair of easily activated tearducts, practically went from being America's sweetheart to America's most hated, when her professional past was "outed" by anti-fan site Vote For The Worst, and later by Radar Online and Perez Hilton. (The latter blogger called her a "fraud" and seemed to harbor a personal vendetta against her, after a Twitter feud between them escalated when Adam Lambert jumped to Stacy's defense.) Of course, none of these gossippy sites actually exposed anything than couldn't be uncovered via a regular query on YouTube, Wikipedia, or IMDB. But the inflammatory articles still elicited public outrage that could now possibly thwart the former frontrunner's chances, as the "X Factor" live voting begins this week.Yes, Stacy was a member of the '90s R&B girl group Ex-Girlfriend, who were signed to Reprise by Mariah Carey manager Benny Medina and produced by R.

Oops, They Finally Did It: Jedward Meet Britney
By Lyndsey Parker | Reality Rocks – Sat, Oct 29, 2011 2:28 PM EDT
Jedward onstage with BritneyJedward, aka "The X Factor U.K.'s" twin towers of hair, John and Edward Grimes, sure have come a long way since Simon Cowell declared their performance of "Oops, I Did It Again" the worst performance in "X Factor" history. They've since gone on to become the most successful alums from "X Factor U.K." Season 6, compete in the Eurovision finals (and soon represent Ireland at Eurovision 2012), and even perform for President Obama. But Jedward still saw encountering the American president as a stepping stone towards their main celebrity goal: Coming face-to-face with American sweetheart Britney Spears, the girl who inspired their Simon-infuriating landmark "X Factor" performance. "We are one step closer to meeting Britney Spears," they declared after performing for Obama earlier this year. And now, Jedward's dream has finally come true. On Friday night, October 28, the double divas of Dublin joined Britney onstage during her concert at the O2 Arena in London, and they nearly upstaged her with their tireless enthusiasm, huge hair, and silver suits.

By Lyndsey Parker | Reality Rocks – Fri, Oct 28, 2011 7:56 AM EDTBack in the early '90s. L.A. Reid signed an unknown 13-year-old boy named Usher Raymond to LaFace Records...and the rest was musical history. Now, two decades later, L.A. is a judge/mentor on "The X Factor," trying to make stars out of a contestant who's already earned comparisons to Usher, Marcus Canty, and out of another talented tween, Brian "Astro" Bradley. And so far, L.A. he seems so competitive and aggressive, he and his protégés may even eventually upstage Simon Cowell.
So, backstage at October 15th's "A Decade Of Difference" Hollywood Bowl concert in honor of the William J. Clinton Foundation (which also featured performances by Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, and Bono & The Edge), Usher spoke to Yahoo! about his former mentor's new TV gig and his own memories of being whipped into shape by Mr. Reid. Was L.A. as tough as he seems now on "The X Factor"? Did he have a Simon-like approach to mentorship? And can this show produce another Usher-esque superstar? Here's what Usher had to

Go Backstage With the ‘X Factor’ Groups

Tuesday night on "The X Factor," the top 17 became the top 12. And it is a very strong top 12. While certain contestants are early frontrunners--either based on strong first auditions, a disproportionate amount of screentime, or excellent performances this week on the first live show--really, almost all of them have a decent chance of winning this thing. It will certainly be interesting to see how it all pans out.
Backstage after Tuesday's big broadcast, I got the chance to talk with the Groups, who just may be the dark horses in this competition. Before this week, I thought poor mentor Paula Abdul was doomed, but after she helped Stereo Hogzz, InTENsity, and Lakoda Rayne put on such professional and relevant performances, who knows what might happen this season?
