Casey Abrams Shaves His Beard For Charity

"American Idol" fans will remember hirsute contestant Casey Abrams' Season 10 mini-makeover, mandated by an angry Jimmy Iovine after Casey nearly went home in 11th place. But that was nothing compared to the drastic shearing Casey has recently undergone, this time of his own free will. The shaggy jazzbo looks barely recognizable by the end of this clip:

Casey has followed through on the pledge he made last year to shave off his beard in honor of fans who supported his national inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) awareness campaign, IBD Icons. And while I personally kind of miss his old hairy look, I am sure his beard will grow back in no time, and in the interim, I commend Casey for all his hard work.

As became public knowledge when illness almost made Casey drop out of the top 12 boys' semifinals last season, Casey has ulcerative colitis, and since his stint on "Idol" he's been building awareness for IBD and raising funds for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) through IBD Icons. Clearly, he's willing to put his beard where his mouth is when it comes to supporting this important cause!

What do you think of the clean-shaven Casey?
