Fantasia BarrinoThis Tuesday, "American Idol" Season 3 winner Fantasia Barrino gave birth to her second child, a boy, 16 days before her December 29th due date. The father of baby is reportedly her boyfriend Antwaun Cook, who is still legally married. According to RadarOnline, Antwaun was present at the Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina, where the birth took place.
The early arrival of Fantasia and Antwaun's first child together comes about four and a half months after Fantasia publicly announced her pregnancy while performing at a Jacksonville benefit show. At the time, the news seemed controversial, given the past nature of her relationship with Antwaun. Not only had Fantasia been accused in divorce documents filed by Antwaun's estranged wife, Paula Cook, of causing the dissolution of the Cook marriage, but later in divorce court, Fantasia actually shockingly testified that she had aborted a previous pregnancy by Antwaun.
It was around this time that Fantasia tried to take her own life; later, when discussing her suicide attempt on her VH1 reality show "Fantasia For Real," she cited the intense media scrutiny surrounding her affair with Antwaun as the cause of her breakdown. However, despite all this earlier drama, this year Fantasia maintained a surprisingly low-key, drama-free pregnancy (other than a grilling by TV talk show host Wendy Williams). And now hopefully this new little arrival--whose name has not been revealed as of press time--will bring peace and luck to the sometimes troubled Idol.
