Great Musical Moments in Reality TV: Kris Jenner’s 1985 Music Video

It's understandable that amid all the tabloid commotion surrounding Kim Kardashian's quickie marriage this year, a music video that Kim's mom Kris Jenner made in 1985 got overlooked. But I'm not entirely sure how a video that actually features Kris running OK Go-style on a treadmill; rocking a Martha Quinn mullet and some totally awesome, Olivia Newton-John-worthy '80s outfits; dangerously lip-synching while driving; sleeping with Cabbage Patch Dolls; soaking in a champagne bubble-bath; receiving a happy-birthday greeting from her future ex-husband's infamous client, O.J. Simpson; and anthemically singing of her love for her friends and the Cheesecake Factory, fell through the cracks. Maybe it was just too difficult to fathom that this was actually a thing. But thanks to the Interweb and E!'s "The Soup," the so-bad-it's-amazing clip is now here to stay, as much as Kris probably wishes it'd just go away.

"I Love My Friends," set to the tune of Randy Newman's "I Love L.A.," is an amateur video Kris made 26 years ago for her friends to celebrate her 30th birthday, and along with O.J. (who disturbingly throws up his ungloved hands around the 3:23 mark), it also boasts cameos (around 3:28) by her young daughters Kim, Kourtney, and Khloe (way before Kim grew up and made that other amateur video, ahem). The three daughters even receive lyric-writing credit at the end of the clip!

"I Love My Friends" garnered some attention earlier this year when it treadmilled its way around the blogosphere, and this week, it finally made its long-overdue basic-cable TV debut, when it landed on "The Soup's" year-end countdown of the top 20 clips of 2011. Hate on this video all you want--and there's certainly a lot to ridicule here--but honestly, "I Love My Friends" is kind of a cute early-camcorder time-capsule, and it's infinitely better than anything else any other Kardashian has ever done on television.

And while this may be faint praise, "I Love My Friends" is certainly more listenable/watchable than Kim Kardashian's shelved music video.
