Jessica Sanchez Joins The Cast Of ‘Glee,’ Phillip Phillips Announces Album Date

photo: Michael Becker/FoxFans of Season 11 "American Idol" runner-up Jessica Sanchez who've been missing her on Fox since "Idol's" May finale can reset their DVRs soon: It's just been confirmed by TVLine that the 16-year-old diva-in-training will be joining the cast of Fox's "Glee," for a multiple-episode story arc.

While no details about Jessica's start date or character have been confirmed as of this writing, the show's producer, Ryan Murphy, pretty much caused the heads of Jessica and "Glee" fans to collectively explode when he teasingly tweeted this week: "With voices like Jessica, Lea, Naya, Melissa, Amber, and Jenna...Streisand episode?"

Personally, I'm hoping Jessica will be romantically linked with the character of Blake Jenner, the winner of "The Glee Project" Season 2, who starts on "Glee" November 5.

Meanwhile, fans of Jessica's opponent, Season 11 winner Phillip Phillips, also received good news this week, when his album--previously reported as being delayed until January or even February 2013--got an official November 19 release date. The album will be rather Pink-Floyd-ish-ly titled The World From The Side Of The Moon, and, according to a tweet from Phillip on Tuesday, he just finished the disc's last track--just in time to meet the holiday shopping rush.

With such great things happening for last season's "Idol" top two finalists, is it possible that "AI" producer Nigel Lythgoe will move the focus off the supposed Mariah Carey/Nicki Minaj feud in Season 12, and put the focus back on the actual contestants? Now, that would be reason to truly be gleeful.
