I admit I've lost interest in Britain's The X Factor
since twins John & Edward (and, to a slightly lesser agree, pub rocker Jamie Archer) were tragically voted off weeks ago. And then
my favorite among the final three, Stacey Solomon, was cut this weekend after warbling a "Feeling Good" duet with Michael Buble
. (Apparently she didn't read or heed my blog about the Feeling Good Curse
But anyway, I happily returned to the scene of the Jedward-eliminating crime this Sunday for the big X Factor
finale (my default pick, Joe McElderry, versus Olly Murs...although to be honest, you could flip a pound coin and I'd be okay with whoever won). After all, I can never resist a filler-packed, dragged-out, nail-biting, live-televised talent show finale...but more importantly, I can never resist a chance to see John & Edward Grimes perform in all their streaked-and-tipped, matching-suited glory:
Yes, all dozen X Factor finalists returned to the ITV soundstage for the X Factor finale Sunday to sing Take That's "Never Forget," and judging from the audience howls when the Double Divas Of Dublin emerged (around the 1:30 mark in the clip above), they hadn't been forgotten at all since their horrific elimination on November 22.
I of course never forgot Jedward, but I have yet to forgive the population of Britain for voting them off. It was thrilling to see them return. I just wish the twins, who once made a huge mark memorably performing Robbie Williams' "Rock DJ" on this show, had been the ones duetting with Robbie last night, instead of Olly. It should have been Jedward, England. It should have been Jedward.
Come back later for the report on who actually won this show, but for me, John & Edward are obviously the real winners this season.
