Kris Allen Plays Dirty At Secret Viper Room Show

After the Los Angeles Spring Fair was unexpectedly canceled this past Sunday, "American Idol" Season 8 winner Kris Allen, who was slated to headline the fair, organized a last-minute "secret" midnight show at Hollywood's Viper Room, so that diehard fans who'd traveled to L.A. just to see him wouldn't be disappointed. Whatta guy, that Kris.

Billing themselves at Sirk & The Dirty Minds, Kris and his band played many of their must-hear crowd-pleasers, but then also debuted a new honky-tonky jam, tentatively titled "Shut That Door & Keep That Devil Out," that showcased both Kris's goofy and country sides. It was similar in vibe to one of my favorite Kris tunes, "Alright With Me," and I'd love to hear a studio recording of it on his next album.
