Kris Allen Talks New Tunes, Obama, Album Leaks & The Apocalypse

Kris is understandably excited about his new albumWATCH PART 2 OF KRIS ALLEN'S INTERVIEW HERE

"American Idol" winner Kris Allen is gearing up to release his long-awaited third album, Thank You Camellia, on May 22, and when he recently talked with Reality Rocks over at 19 Entertainment headquarters about the release, his excitement--an excitement shared by his fans, who've been waiting almost two and a half years for new Kris music--was obvious.

"I think it was essential for the songs' sake that we spent this much time on it, and for the record's sake," Kris said. "I don't know if we would have made this great of a record if we wouldn't have spent this much time on it....I feel like [this album] is more of me [than Kris Allen was]. The songs are great and I've been able to write all the songs, I've been able to be a part of the production, and I think it just means more to me. I'm very proud of it. Just being able to spend this much time on it has meant the world, really."

Here are some specific details Kris spilled on a few Thank You Camellia tracks:

"The Vision Of Love" - "It is an uplifting, inspirational song. It's just about love and how people should offer themselves to help other people, even in the smallest situations."

"Teach Me How Love Goes" - "It's about that moment when you think, 'I don't know exactly what I'm doing when it comes to love, I don't know how to make you happy anymore...I need to have someone come out of the friggin' sky and tell me how to love this person!'"

"Out Alive" - "It's definitely a hopeful song. It's like, 'We've been through some stuff, girl, and we need to get through this. I don't even know if we're gonna get through this, but please come along with me, and maybe we will.' It kind of leaves you on the edge, which I kind of like."

"My Weakness" - "I think it is one of people's favorites....People loved it [when it leaked a couple months ago], so that was very cool. It's nice when you leak something and people are like, 'I love that!' instead of like, 'I hate that song, I hope Kris doesn't put that one the album!'"

"Shut That Door & Keep That Devil Out" - "That song was kind of an accident. It is not going to end up on the regular version of the album, but we are doing some acoustic tracks, and it will be on that [EP]."
