“Misery” Loves Company: Paul McDonald & Nikki Reed’s Latest Duet

photo: Jeffey Mayer/Getty ImagesWhile Season 12's "American Idol" top 10 finalists were being announced this past Thursday on a Los Angeles soundstage, not too far away in West Hollywood, one of the best "Idol" alums of the past few years, Season 10's alt-country songsmith Paul McDonald, was performing with his actress wife Nikki Reed at the pop-up launch party for Joe Fresh at jcp. The musical couple treated partygoers (Stacy Keibler, Rumer Willis, and Bella Thorne among them) to a few acoustic tunes, like "Bouquet Of Lies," "The Best Part," "Crosby Hotel," and their Twilight theme "All I've Ever Needed," as well as a brand-new song, "Misery," which they told the crowd they'd just written.

Hear it here:

Paul and Nikki have been stepping up their gigging schedule lately: Last Wednesday, they played an intimate benefit show at L.A.'s Roxy for the Step Up charity in honor of National Women’s Month, and next week they head to Austin, Texas, for the South By Southwest festival, where they'll perform at St. David's Historic Sanctuary on March 16. Other Idols playing SXSW, incidentally, include Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze, and Blake Lewis.
