The West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval is a venerable Los Angeles tradition, as thousands of glam ghouls and goblins, scary monsters and superfreaks, descend upon Santa Monica Blvd. every All Hallows' Eve for a fabulously fearsome night out. And for this Halloween's 35th anniversary Carnaval, the king of camp, "America's Got Talent" fopera dandy Prince Poppycock, was invited to perform and be crowned the honorary Mayor of WeHo.
Belting out Screamin' Jay Hawkins' Halloween-appropriate "I Put A Spell On You" and the Muppets' feelgood classic "Rainbow Connection" (also appropriate, considering that that Carnaval attracted all walks of L.A. life) in front of an impressive numbber of powdered-wigged, costumed Poppycock lookalikes, the good Prince earned his mayoral title and did his city proud. WeHo's got talent, indeed:
I just wish Poppycock's new title wasn't honorary only. I mean, how awesome would it be if Prince Poppycock was the real Mayor of West Hollywood? Is it too late to put him on tomorrow's election ballot as a write-in candidate? We've already seen how downright presidential he can be (during his "AGT" performance of "Yankee Doodle Dandy"), and just look at how magnificently he spoke on behalf of his kingdom on Halloween night:
In honor of his being crowned honorary Mayor of West Hollywood, Prince Poppycock is asking that his loyal Poppies donate $5 to the Trevor Project, his chairty of choice, by texting TREVOR to 85944. Listen to your leader, people!
