On Sunday, March 27, "The X Factor" finally touched down on American shores, with the series' first-ever U.S. auditions taking place at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. And just in case anyone was worried if Simon Cowell's new post-"Idol" venture would be able to compete with "American Idol," or "The Voice," or "America's Got Talent," or "The Sing-Off," or any of the other TV talent competitions airing nowadays, please note: L.A.'s "X Factor" tryouts had a record turnout. More than 15,000 hopefuls--kids, moms, senior citizens, groups, duos--lined up to find out if they could mark their spot on "X," so to speak.
I showed up myself, to witness all the X-citement, and while I of course wasn't able to chat with all 15,000-plus auditioners, I did get some face time with a few lucky golden-ticket-holders. Will we see any of them on the actual show? We'll find out in September, but I hope so...because their fun off-the-cuff, on-the-scene interviews got me very X-cited for "The X Factor USA." These people will make for some good TV...and remember, you saw them here first!
Meet some of "The X Factor's" L.A. auditioners below...and wait until the end for one guy who didn't make the cut this year, but I was so impressed with him, I have a feeling he might show up on Season 2...
