Sarah Sellers, the cool geek-chic food blogger who auditioned for "American Idol" this season, sadly didn't make it past episode one of Hollywood Week. (She's one of the most-robbed contestants of Season 10!) But like the rest of America, she'll be watching this season to see how the friends she made in Hollywood fare on the live stage. And she has the perfect snack suggestions for any "Idol" viewing party!

So starting this week, I am proud to announce that Sarah will be posting her "Idol" snack recipes right here in Reality Rocks, to get your mouth watering for every viewing night. I may end up gaining 10 pounds before "AI" Season 10 is over, since Sarah's snack suggestions are tempting indeed...but I'll take my chances. It'll be worth it.
Tonight, as the top 12 boys compete, Sarah is whipping up some guacamole for the guys. Dig in, and happy viewing/eating!
Savory Southwest Guacamole
Yields 4-6 servings
▪ 4 large avocados, ripe
▪ 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
▪ 2 tbsp diced red onion
▪ 2 tbsp chopped tomatoes
▪ 1 tsp diced jalapeno (seeds and veins removed)
▪ 2 tsp fresh lime juice
▪ 1/2 tsp garlic powder
▪ 1/2 tsp cumin
▪ 1/2 tsp chili powder
▪ 1/2 tsp kosher salt
▪ 1/4 tsp black pepper
Mix all of the ingredients in a large bowl. Taste and adjust seasoning accordingly. Serve with your favorite tortilla chips.
**The key to delicious guacamole is a ripe avocado. The best way to check for ripeness is to apply slight pressure to the top pit of the avocado. If the pit gives slightly to your pressure then it's ripe. Try not to squeeze the entire avocado too much while checking for ripeness, it will bruise.
