Today I had the thrill of visiting the So You Think You Can Dance set to commemorate this week's historical 100th episode, where I interviewed Nigel Lythgoe and all of this season's top eight dancers about the series' milestone. (Those interviews will run Thursday, as a teaser for that evening's big 100th episode special.) But it was equally thrilling to meet Soyon An, the show's genius costume designer.
As a girly-girl with a passion for fashion and flashin', a Bedazzler-owning lady whose mottos in life are "When in doubt, always overdress" and "Everything is better with sequins on it," I was (pun intended) bursting at the seams with excitement when I got a peek inside Soyon's sequin-stuffed headquarters.
This is where--or (pun intended, again) wear--the magic happens, people.
Seriously...there were wardrobe worker-bees hand-rhinestoning (if that's even a verb) the dancers' costumes!
And boxes upon boxes upon boxes of accessories, including a "goth" box!
And an entire separate room of SHOES!
And Janette's spangly hot-tamale leotard!
And, um...Nigel's rack!
So now, my goal in life is to earn enough money to hire Soyon (who also styled the Idols Live Tour, as mentioned in this Matt Giraud interview) to dress me every day. Time to ask Yahoo! for a raise...
