Amy Winehouse’s Ex-Husband In Coma; Fighting For Life

It's only been a year since Amy Winehouse died as a result of her addictions--and now her ex-husband, Blake Fielder-Civil, seems to be in danger of the same fate. The 30-year-old is currently on life support following an alleged overdose.

According to an interview with the Sun, Aspin--who is the mother of Fielder-Civil's 15-month-old son--explains he was out drinking the night before and came home in an impaired state, staggering and slurring his words.

"The doctors say they don't know the prognosis. They said they put him in a coma to help him and due to infection," she noted. "I'm praying he'll survive, but I'm having to prepare myself that he may never wake up."

It has not been confirmed yet which substances Fielder-Civil was using the evening before his collapse.

Fielder-Civil has a long history of substance abuse, which was well-documented by the media during his two-year marriage to fellow addict Winehouse. Fielder-Civil claimed in 2008 that he was the one who introduced Winehouse to heroin, whereas Winehouse declared "our whole marriage was based on doing drugs."

The pair weathered a stormy relationship filled with binges, physical fights, and numerous arrests; causing their families to fear for both of their lives.

The couple divorced in 2009. Fielder-Civil met Aspin that year while in rehab. In 2011, he was put in jail for burglary and possession of a firearm.

However, his latest binge on Friday reportedly took place directly after a meeting with his probation officers. Aspin told the Sun that he had been "doing so well" and that the two were discussing marriage

Winehouse's father, Mitch, urged fans on Thursday to keep Fielder-Civil in their thoughts. "Terrible news about Blake this morning. Remember Amy loved him. Let's pray for his recovery," he tweeted.
