Stop The Presses!
  • (Steve Granitz, WireImage)Possibly more than any other rock star on the planet, Jack White is pushing for the resurgence of vinyl. Just last year, White's solo debut, Blunderbuss, became the best-selling vinyl LP of 2012 by knocking The Beatles' Abbey Road from the top spot with sales of 34,000 copies. Now Jack, who is serving as ambassador of this year's Record Store Day, wants fans to become part of the vinyl revolution by inviting them to his Third Man Record Record Store in Nashville to record themselves on vinyl in his new Third Man Record Booth. It will debut on Saturday, as part of the Record Store Day celebration.

"Certain beautiful experiences can only happen in the environment of a record store and I just thought that nothing could drive that point home more than a one-of-a-kind machine that lets you not only record your own vinyl record, but send it to anyone, anywhere in the world to share a song, poem, or private message with," Jack says in a message posted on the Third Man website.

Normally an album release is cause for celebration. But instead of celebrating, Fall Out Boy has struck a more somber tone, announcing that they'll honor the victims of Monday’s Boston Marathon bombing.

The band announced via their website on Tuesday that they were sending their thoughts and prayers to everyone affected by the bombing, and that they would donate proceeds from their concert at Tsongas Arena in Lowell, MA (about 30 miles from Boston) on September 6 to the victims.

“As you guys all know we’ve been beyond excited for today to come and normally this would be a day of celebration with the release of our new album,” the statement read, referencing the new album Save Rock And Roll, which came out Tuesday.
