Stop The Presses!
  • In the annals of the Most Disastrous Shows Ever, there is a new entry. Folk-rock singer Michelle Shocked had the plug pulled on her concert Sunday night after launching into an anti-gay-marriage speech that led most of the audience to walk out.

Did we mention that her fans largely lean well to the left, thanks to the liberal politics that previously infused much of her music, and that the gig where she chose to come out (so to speak) as an Old Testament-citing preacher on homosexual issues was in the heart of San Francisco?

Michelle Shocked, in more peaceful timesWord of the debacle began spreading via social media even before the operator of Yoshi's interrupted Shocked's performance to announce that, as a gay man, he could not allow the show to continue and she would have to leave the stage. Ironically, Shocked had spent much of the show asking the crowd to engage with her and even pick her set list via Twitter. It's unclear whether she had any idea that, within hours, outraged former fans would be using that same forum to

  • Joss Stone (Photo: James Lemke Jr)The two men who were arrested in 2011 on suspicion of conspiracy to rob and murder singer Joss Stone have gone to trial this week in Britain.

Kevin Liverpool, 35, and Junior Bradshaw, 32, have denied the charges against them, which include conspiracy to murder, conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm and conspiracy to rob the Grammy-winning pop star.

However, the jury at Exeter Crown Court was told by prosecution that the two men were armed with a sword, knives, and other potential weapons--as well as notes stating their intentions to kill the singer--when they were spotted driving around Stone's neighborhood.

  • Sheeran and Swift (Photo: D Dipasupil)Tons of guys have fallen head-over-heels for Taylor Swift--including fellow musician Ed Sheeran. And, in Sheeran's case, we mean literally fallen for her!

The singer-songwriter, who is opening up for Swift on her 2013 Red Tour, was in the middle of performing the trek's first show in Omaha, Nebraska--when he misjudged his footing between two speakers…and took a full-out tumble right in front of the audience's noses.

  • Bret Michaels of Poison is turning the big five-oh... but his head scarf doesn't look a day over 40!

In honor of his 50th birthday on March 15, we take a look back at what he'll be most remembered for the rest of his decades. And no, it's not the most inexplicable reality show of all time, Rock of Love, although that's a close second, but the most celebrated metal power ballad ever to come down the pike, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn."

The tune was Poison's lone No. 1 single, reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 in the final week of 1988 and carrying over into the first two weeks of '89. But for a song that's nearly half as old as Michaels himself, it's inescapable. For that, you can thank or blame classic rock radio, Glee, Miley Cyrus, the Broadway and film versions of Rock of Ages, Regis Philbin, pop culture shout-outs in everything from Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey to The Simpsons... and the fact that Michaels himself seems to re-record it about every other year.

    Back in 2009,

  • Burr (bottom left) with Iron Maiden/Ironmaiden.comClive Burr, who was the former drummer for iconic metal band Iron Maiden, passed away Tuesday night at the age of 56. Burr, who had been in poor health for several years following a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, died at home in his sleep, according to a statement posted on Iron Maiden's official site.

Burr joined the British band in 1979 after leaving former group Samson. He added a powerful element to the influential outfit's early classics, including their breakthrough album, 1982's The Number Of The Beast. In total, he contributed to that release, plus Iron Maiden's 1980 self-titled debut and 1981's Killers. He left the band right before they approached stadium-headliner status to pursue a variety of metal-related projects.

Here's five of Burr's most epic moments with Iron Maiden over his short but influential period with the band, including two official music videos ("The Number Of The Beast" and "Run To The Hills"), plus a live version of one of the two songs he co-wrote for Maiden--"Total Eclipse," which was the b-side to "Run To The Hills."
