The 43-year-old French-Canadian singer and husband Rene Angelil
were not home at the time of the bizarre break-in. According to police
spokesman Franco Di Genova, local man Daniel Bedard, 36, jumped a fence
and then used a garage door opener (discovered in an unlocked car) to
break into the house, located just outside Montreal.
"He opened the water faucets, was pouring a nice warmish bath," Di
Genova said. "He even managed to eat some pastry that was in the
fridge."

The intruder eventually set off a security alarm; Bedard then claimed
to officers he was a "family friend" of the music super couple.
Officers later found snack wrappers in the kitchen and cigarette butts and discarded notes in an office.
