Jason Lee And Keb’ Mo’: The Rhythm Behind ‘Memphis Beat’

My Name Is Earlactor Jason Lee takes on Elvis' persona in his new TNT drama, Memphis Beat. Yahoo! recently traveledto Memphis to talk to Lee and Keb' Mo', the show'smusic supervisor, about their connection to the show.

Lee portrays Dwight Hendricks, a detective who moonlights asan Elvis impersonator.

Taping the show in Memphishas given Lee more insight into the city's rich music culture. "The amount ofappreciation for that music from all walks of life in the south is really,really impressive to me," he said.

Keb' Mo',who landed the behind-the-scenes gig after being interviewed by the showcreators, agrees that Memphiswas the perfect place to tape the show.

"It's great that it is in Memphis," he said. "Because that music andhistory can connect as the backdrop for these great human stories about theseindividuals."

Memphis Beat premieres on TNT Tuesday, June 22, at 10/9c.
