Despite his Ferrari accidents and spats with paparazzi, Justin Bieber may actually be a lot like the rest of us. The Canadian pop star suffers heartbreaks and takes a long time to get over them, just like we all do. At least that's what he admitted when he released his new single, "Heartbreaker," Monday morning.
In a description posted on iTunes and reposted on Instagram and Twitter, Biebs wrote, "It's a song for people going through a heartbreak – like I was when I wrote it. It means so much to me to be able to share what I was, and still am going through, with my fans. I'm very proud of this song and I hope it give [sic] my fans some insight into my heart. –JB"
It's very likely that the tune was inspired by his breakup with fellow pop star Selena Gomez. The pair have had an on-again, off-again relationship, but it reportedly ended once and for all in November, although the pair have been spotted together since then.
That said, it may have been inspired by his current gal pal, Jacque Rae Pyles, who Bieber is rumored to be dating again after the couple broke up four years ago when they were young teenagers. They've recently been spotted at events together and even jetted off to Las Vegas. Given that the pair seem to be in good standing and Biebs admitted he's still going through the heartbreak that inspired "Heartbreaker," it seems to us that the sultry R&B jam has Selena's name written all over it.
"Don't tell me I'm a heartbreaker/'Cuz girl, my heart's breaking," Bieber croons, and we feel his pain. It's his first new music release in 10 months, and kicks off his "Music Mondays" series, in which he plans to release new music each Monday for 10 weeks.
