Lady Gaga’s Meat Dress Comeback In Tokyo!

[Photo: Courtesy of Lady Gaga]Who can forget the piece of prime cut couture that Lady Gaga unveiled at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards? Well, turns out the concept hasn't been put out to pasture just yet. Lady Gaga tweeted a photo of herself, taken by infamous fashion photographer Terry Richardson, performing in a similarly themed, but shorter and tighter meat dress at her Born This Way Ball show on May 10 in Tokyo, Japan. To garnish it off, the superstar performed her song "Americano" while flanked by pretty fake-looking, albeit shudder-inducing animal carcasses.

While it isn't clear if Gaga's next-gen meat dress is made of actual raw meat like the first, most likely it is a substitute. The original meat dress, conceived by designer Franc Fernandez,  had to be meticulously refrigerated and cared for to preserve the shape and color--not the easiest look to perform in. The sweetheart cut dress with structured bubble skirt is a fairly conservative cut for Lady Gaga, even with the meaty print and matching beef shoes, but the whole effect together is still pretty shocking. Not really shocking by Gaga standards, but enough to put the grill away for a bit.

The original meat dress is currently on display at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, OH. A California taxidermist was specially hired to take on the unique task of "jerky-fying" the dress to preserve it, making for a pretty creepy "Silence of the Lambs" effect.

Lady Gaga is currently on the Asia leg of her Born This Way Ball tour and will be hitting Australia over the summer and wrapping up in Europe in the fall.
