Taylor Swift is not dating"High School Musical" star Zac Efron in real life, but the two will be pairedup in the theatrical adaptation of the 1971 Dr. Seuss book, "The Lorax
,"it was revealed this week.
Swift will portray Audrey inthe 3-D, GCI filmdue out in 2012 and to be produced by Universal Studios and IlluminationEntertainment. Audrey wins the affection of Efron's character Ted.
In the book, Ted learns avaluable lesson on saving the environment. He meets the creature Lorax, who desperatelytried to prevent the industrialization of a forest. Danny DeVito will providethe voice of The Lorax, and Betty White will portray Ted's Grammy Norma.
The book was also developedinto a television special that aired on CB S in 1972 and a play at the LexingtonChildren's Theatre in Lexington, Ky.
"The Lorax" won't be thefirst time Swift has appeared in an animated effort. In February, she was a guest on"TakeTwo With Phineas & Ferb," Disney's virtual talk show. She has also acted on "CSI: Crime SceneInvestigation" and in the romantic comedy film "Valentine's Day."
The other big music storiesthis week are a mixture of good and bad news. Justin Bieber made his debut as awax figure at Madame Tussands locations in New York,London, and Amsterdam, and Billy Ray Cyrus revealed thathe no longer plans to divorce his wife. But unfortunately, we loss two musicgreats, Country Music Hall Of Famer Ferlin Husky and hip-hop chorus maestroNate Dogg.
