How Much Did it Cost for Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon to Renew Their Vows at Disneyland?

By Laura Ferreiro

Leave it to Mariah Carey to stage the ultimate fairytale wedding. Well, technically it was a vow renewal ceremony, replete with princes, castles, and fireworks, held at the Disneyland to mark the fifth wedding anniversary of Carey and her hubby Nick Cannon.

The happy couple invited friends and family to join them Tuesday night for a private ceremony at the "Happiest Place on Earth," where they closed down the California theme park to celebrate in style.

Carey, dressed all in white, resembled a princess, while Cannon dressed up as Prince Charming. Carey arrived in Cinderella's horse-drawn stagecoach, and Cannon met her in front of Sleeping Beauty's castle, where he walked her and their 2-year-old twins down the aisle.

An elaborate fireworks display followed the ceremony, which was a surprise for Carey. Major Domo, Cinderella's royal footman, served as the master of ceremonies for the evening and escorted the approximately 250 guests to Fantasyland for a champagne toast and reception DJ’d by Cannon after the fireworks.

Guests took advantage of the park being closed to the public, riding the Matterhorn Bobsleds rollercoaster, the King Arthur Carousel, and Peter Pan and Snow White attractions.

As it turns out, you don't have to be a superstar to hold a wedding at Disneyland. The theme park can arrange custom weddings for couples who'd like to create their own fairytale weddings. Nighttime ceremonies like Carey and Cannon's run at least $135,000 and require a minimum of 100 guests.

People can choose where in the park they'd like to hold the wedding, whether it's in front of Sleeping Beauty's Castle or near the Pirates of the Caribbean, according to a Disneyland Resort travel specialist by the name of "Carlos," and they're usually held after the park closes or in the morning before it opens.

"Each person can build the details until they reach their desired wedding scenario," Disneyland's rep said. "Different locations have different value amounts. The price includes the ceremony and the reception, officiates for the ceremony, bouquets, decorations, music, food, and the venue." Couples can work with Disneyland-appointed wedding planners to get the details of their big day just right.

Carey and Cannon went all out for the lavish affair, importing 15,000 blooms from South Africa, Holland, and France and 10,000 crystals. Not wanting their magical evening to end, the couple returned to the Dream Suite above the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction at the end of the night.
