If you’re like most people out there, the music you choose to listen to every day varies with the state of mind or activity you’re currently engaged in. After all, who wants to hear chill-out tunes when you’re about to start your cardio workout—or heavy metal at the end of the day when you’re sipping chamomile tea?
Taking this into account, wouldn’t it be cool if you could actually program your “musical day”—so you’re all set to go with a soundtrack that will motivate and enhance whatever it is you’re about to do, as you do it?
Never fear- iHeartRadio is already on the case. The popular digital radio service unveiled a new update on Monday called “Perfect For”-- which will allow music lovers to search for tunes that are, as the name suggests, just right for whatever they’re up to at the moment.
Just select the new “Perfect For” tab on the latest version of iHeartRadio, and based on the time of day, a menu of options will show up—for example, a morning menu might include waking up, commuting, running, or even keeping that party from last night goin’. Afternoon and evening menus will differ accordingly. Once an activity is selected, several genres and themes are offered, along with curated suggestions culled from thousands of different stations.
Right now, the update is only available for iPhone and PC users, but the company says that “Perfect For” stations can be saved on these devices and accessed via any device where iHeartRadio is available. The feature will be available on other mobile and tablet devices soon.
For those who really like to manage their schedules, iHeartRadio also introduced an alarm clock feature which music fans can set in order to wake up to their favorite shows, or be reminded when they are about to start.
Additionally, the company announced it would be integrating its service this year in Chrysler and General Motors vehicles—as well as the launch of the new iHeartAuto App, which will make commuters’ lives a lot more rockin’ overall. Drivers can access a variety of iHeartRadio features easily and safely behind the wheel, allowing a customized and fun music experience on the road.
The company unveiled all the products Monday in Las Vegas at consumer technology trade show the 2013 International CES.
