“The dude is the herpes of music. Once you think it’s gone, it comes back. #herpes #flareup #pleasegoaway," Armstrong wrote on Instagram Tuesday. He also posted a picture of PSY, whose international hit “Gangnam Style” remains an epidemic.
When Asked to reply to Armstrong’s dig during an interview with Fuse News, PSY said, “Herpes? What is herpes?” When told it’s a “sexually transmitted infection,” PSY, whose command of English is limited and who didn’t seem to understand the insult replied, “Oh, hmm. I kinda like it. It's cool.”
In addition to being unaware of the definition of herpes, PSY didn’t know who Armstrong was.
"So he is saying, I'm like the herpes. I should say something to him. He says I'm like herpes, keeps coming back,” Psy said. “I think it's really cool and I appreciate that. Thank you."
Some fans were not amused by the exchange: “Better to be herpes and keep coming back strong like PSY than being AIDS and just die at some point like Green Day,” wrote Lightningdude on a YouTube page posting the clip.
"It's interesting how GreenDay fans validate BJ's vulgar comments and justify them with stats,” commented uAfooLOL. "’Greenday accomplished this...and that.’ Who cares? The point is that BJ intended to demean another man who is simply on a ride that he himself never intended to be on. This MAN handled it with class. Good job PSY.”
PSY’s second U.S. single “Gentlemen” has been viewed over 307,696,000 times since it was posted April 13. Time for Billie to break out the antibiotics.
